Brunei Darussalam is sending a delegation
to participate in the international level of quean reading competition
to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The weeklong competition begins
tonight.

The delegation led by Dr. Ustaz Haji
Mirawan bin Haji Mohd. Noh Batu Bara left the country for Kuala
Lumpur, Tuesday. Also included in the delegation is Dato Paduka Seri
Setia Haji Adam who is one of the invited judges.
Brunei is represented by the winners of
the National Level Quran Reading Competition for Adults held last
August. Awang Haji Ismail bin Haji Sulaiman is the winner in male
category. |

To prepare for the competition, the
readers undergo an intensive course aimed at improving the quality of
their reading and identifying several mistakes in their reading.
Readers are trained in all four aspects of Quran reading before
participating in the competition.
Through the competition, Brunei Darussalam
hopes to produce more talented Quran readers. The most recent
achievement of Brunei readers in the competition was witnessed last
year when Dayang Hajah Aminah binti Haji Abdul Manaf won the female
