Brunei Delegation Attends Quran Reading Competition in KL

Brunei Darussalam is sending a delegation to participate in the international level of quean reading competition to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  The weeklong competition begins tonight.

The delegation led by Dr. Ustaz Haji Mirawan bin Haji Mohd. Noh Batu Bara left the country for Kuala Lumpur, Tuesday.  Also included in the delegation is Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Adam who is one of the invited judges.

Brunei is represented by the winners of the National Level Quran Reading Competition for Adults held last August.  Awang Haji Ismail bin Haji Sulaiman is the winner in male category.

To prepare for the competition, the readers undergo an intensive course aimed at improving the quality of their reading and identifying several mistakes in their reading.  Readers are trained in all four aspects of Quran reading before participating in the competition.

Through the competition, Brunei Darussalam hopes to produce more talented Quran readers.  The most recent achievement of Brunei readers in the competition was witnessed last year when Dayang Hajah Aminah binti Haji Abdul Manaf won the female category.
