Book donations forge the start of good relations

The contribution of books by the Language and Literature Bureau of Malaysia to the University Brunei Darussalam has helped cement the existing ties between both sides.  The contribution is seen as a symbol of cooperation that will help the two institutions in their future endeavors in various fields.

The Malaysia High Commissioner in Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Dato Salman Ahmad, presented the books to the Vice Chancellor of University Brunei Darussalam, Doctor Haji Ismail bin Haji Duraman.

The books consisted of exclusive editions of the latest publications on learning the Malay Language, an encyclopedia on Bahasa Global and several dictionaries.  It is hoped that more such contributions will be made after this especially in the scopes of science, religion, culture and Malay Literature.

The Director of the Literature Department at the Malaysian Language and Literature Bureau, Doctor Haji Awang bin Sariyan said that this gesture marks the beginning of good relations.  Joint cooperations in research and publications of the Malay Language, he said, will be held within the framework of bigger projects by his department.

Among the books donated by the Malaysian High Commission is a collection of speeches by the Malaysian Premier, Datuk Seri Doctor Mahathir Mohammad.  The speeches cover a myriad of issues, including politics, democracy and new Asia.  Other books focus on globalisation, Islam and the ummah within the context of regional cooperation as well as digital economy.
