Brunei FM in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah for ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat

 

His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah are in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah to attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat.  On arrival at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport just before noon Tuesday, His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness were greeted by Brunei Darussalam’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, His Excellency Dato Paduka Haji Abdullah, Brunei Darussalam’s Consul-General to Sabah, Awang Mahamud bin Haji Ahmad, as well as the Deputy Chief of Protocol at the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Sabah’s Deputy Secretary of State.  

The three-day informal meeting of ASEAN Ministers is being held at the Nexus Resort in Karambunai, about 22 kilometres from Kota Kinabalu.  The retreat, which will be hosted by the Foreign Minister of Malaysia is expected to discuss current regional and international developments as well as ASEAN matters of common concern.  The issue of a possible US-led war on Iraq is expected to be high on the agenda.  The meeting is also expected to discuss preparations for the 36th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting which will be held in Phnom Penh in June.
