With the consent of His Majesty
Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan
and Yang Dipertuan of Brunei Darussalam, a detainee has been
released under the Internal Security Act.
The swearing-in and pledge
ceremony for Awang Ghani bin Metussin @ Ghani bin Sibal, took
place Tuesday at the Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Kampung
Sengkurong.
The release of Awang Ghani took
effect as from Tuesday. He regretted his wrongdoing and
voluntarily pledged his undivided loyalty to His Majesty the
Sultan and Yang Dipertuan of Brunei Darussalam and his
government, as well as obedience towards the country’s laws and
rules. |

He was detained for his
involvement in the subversive distribution of illegal pamphlet
activities. Awang Ghani was released after undergoing
rehabilitation at the Jerudong Detention and Rehabilitation
Unit.
Present at the ceremony were the
Permanent Secretary to the Advisory Committee for Detainees,
Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Rahman and the Brunei Muara District
Officer, Dato Paduka Haji Harun.
