In this era of globalization,
societies and especially youngsters are vulnerable to the
effects of influences brought about by rapid changes and sharp
challenges that have been accelerated by the rapid growth of
technologies.
This has brought a tremendous
change in today’s life style. For whatever reasons, we should
not put the blame wholly on the technology, as the human factor
is to be partly blamed as well. This was stressed by the
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Dato Seri Paduka
Doctor Haji Awang Hussein at the opening of the 38th Meeting of
the ASEAN Committee On Culture and Information, COCI. The
Minister said that their concern, among other things, are the
adverse effects of widespread social menaces, drug abuse,
smoking and the spread of diseases like HIV/AIDS.

The ASEAN-COCI has made tremendous
efforts in enhancing the rich diversity of ASEAN’s traditional
and cultural heritages by organizing programmes and activities.
