New private college opens in Brunei

 

People in the country are lucky because the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Dipertuan of Brunei Darussalam gives the rakyat and permanent residents free education from kindergarten to university level.

This was highlighted by the Deputy Minister of Education at the official opening of the Laksamana College of Business Tuesday.  Dato Paduka Haji Suyoi said that a total of 29,875 students are studying in 26 government secondary schools and colleges throughout the country, with 32,952 pupils in 126 government primary schools.

With the increase in the number of students, the presence of private institutions is complementing and supplementing the government’s efforts towards supplying education in Brunei Darussalam.

Laksamana College of Business, LCB, is a subsidiary of Kensington College of Business in London, established in Brunei as a business course provider.

 

 

LCB is extremely well situated.  The college occupies excellent purpose-designed premises at the Plaza Abdul Razak, located at the most strategic area in Bandar Seri Begawan.  The college is equipped with an administration room, a computer laboratory, and library as well as lecture rooms.   

Among the courses offered by the Laksamana College are Diplomas in Business Management and Business Law, Advanced Diploma in Information Management and also degree courses in Strategic Management, Marketing Management and Financial Management.   

The teaching staff comprises of a combination of top lecturers from the United Kingdom Universities.  Students who wish to enroll must fulfil the specific requirements according to their chosen course.  They must also have had six years of post primary education, be at least 17 years of age, and mature with appropriate experiences.  They also should posses good standard of English.
