Competition heats up at Pesta Sukan finals

 
 

At the ongoing 6th National Sports Festival the finals for the Sepak Takraw, Track & Field and Cycling events took place Friday

The Brunei Muara District won the gold medal in the Sepak Takraw Regu event at the final match, which was held Friday at the Menglait Sport Complex in Gadong.  The winning team beat the Royal Brunei Armed Forces in three sets 16-21, 21-20 and 17-16. 
 
 In the team event, the gold medal was secured by the Royal Brunei Police Force. The winners received their prizes from the Acting Director of the Brunei Museums, Awang Bantong Antaran.Meanwhile, the finals of several track & field events were underway at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.  On Friday morning, athletes were competing in the final of the male and female long jump event. 


 

 

 

 There were also the finals of the male and female Shot Put event, as well as the 1500m race for women.  The High Jump finals, Javelin for both male and female contestants, as well as the 100m race for male and female sprinters, the 400m race for male and female runners and the 3000m race for women were held Friday afternoon. 
A total of nineteen final events will take place today at the same venue.

   

Meanwhile, the Cycling finals were also held Friday morning at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas, with five contingents participating in the event.  The Criterium Bicycle event saw Chung Kwei Ming from the Royal Brunei Police Force secure first place.  Chung Kwei Ming defeated sixteen other cyclists in the 25-lap race.  Second place went to Awang Arifin bin Hassim from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, while Awang Haji Hairman bin Haji Jumat from the Brunei Muara District came in third.
