Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak
Hajah Saleha Sunday night consented to attend a welcoming dinner
ceremony in conjunction with the 7th Area Conference Associated
Country Women of the World, ACWW, for Southeast Asia and the Far
East. Upon arrival at the Empire Hotel and Country Club in Jerudong,
Her Majesty was welcomed by the executive committee and members of
Brunei Women’s Institute, WI, as well as the committee of the 7th ACWW
for Southeast Asia and the Far East.

The 7th ACWW for
Southeast Asia and the Far East is being held in the country until the
17th of this month. ACWW is the largest international organization
for rural women and homemakers, with a membership of over nine million
members in seventy countries worldwide, the majority of whom depend on
agriculture for a living. The ACWW is active in conducting
sustainable development projects, in agriculture training and
development, micro credit/income generation, nutrition and health
issues literacy, environmental issues and access to clean water and
sanitation. Brunei Darussalam first hosted a similar conference in
1991.
