Empowering women to take on a leadership
role and become involved in decision-making processes has a very deep
significance for women in emerging countries as well as developed
countries. This was pointed out by the President of the Associated
Country-Women of the World, or ACWW, Hilda Stewart at the 7th Area
Conference of the ACWW for Southeast and Far East Asia, which is being
held at the International Convention Centre in the capital.

The ACWW, she added, holds regional
training workshops on leadership skills and organizational management
for its members, in the hopes that the knowledge gained from these
workshops will be passed on to the grassroots level. According to the
President of the organization, poverty and world hunger still persist
despite the robust global economy of the 21st century. It is the
responsibility of women’s organizations at all levels to help resolve
these issues and make everyone aware that poverty and global hunger
impinges on all development efforts, whether they are government led
or NGO led. |
