RIPAS Takes Abandoned Baby Under its Wing

The abandoned newborn baby boy who was found last Sunday is reportedly doing well at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Two cleaners of the hospital stumbled upon the baby at about six o’clock Sunday morning.  The baby, who was found in a box clad only in diaper, was left at a rubbish dump near the mortuary of RIPAS Hospital.  No one knows exactly how long this baby was left in the cold, exposed to the elements of Mother Nature.

Doctors believe the baby is less than a month old.  Five hours after his discovery, the infant was reported to be doing well, apart from suffering from some minor insect bites on his forehead.

The baby will now be cared for under the close supervision of RIPAS’ Children’s Ward.  The child has been named Abdul Hakim Mukminin.
