Brunei Calls for Stronger Cooperation Amongst ACCSM’s Civil Services

The on-going ACCSM saw Brunei present a working paper, which highlighted the ACCSM’s efforts to revitalise issues over the continuous shared interest in enhancing cooperation values between the ASEAN civil services.  The paper put forward some suggestions such as ASEAN Civil Services Exchange of Visits Programme, the provision for some flexibility to change focus areas of ASEAN Resource Centres and the revision of a medium-term action plan for consideration.

Brunei also shares interest with other ACCSM members in reviewing the current activities in order to strengthen cooperation amongst the member countries’ civil services.

Brunei is very supportive of the need for further improvement in the networking amongst the ASEAN Resource Centres, (ARC’s).  The discussions over the need to establish closer rapport amongst the ARC’s have not been given sufficient emphasis in the past.

The ASEAN Exchange of Visits Programme should enhance these networking opportunities.  Furthermore, the availability of highly sophisticated communication technologies, which include the use of electronic mails and teleconferencing, should also facilitate networking amongst the ARCs.
