Several main roads including the
Seria-Lumut Bypass will be affected during the transportation of the
new Main Cryogenic Heat Exchangers (MCHE) of the Brunei Liquefied
Natural Gas scheduled for next week. A briefing on the transportation
procedures was held Tuesday for BLNG and government officers to
provide an overview of the Asset Reference Plan, as well as to raise
awareness and understanding on the replacement project.

The meeting was an effort to secure
cooperation from various government agencies concerned during the
transportation of the exchangers from Muara and Kuala Belait ports to
the BLNG plant. |

Some of the points highlighted during the
meeting were preventive measures including power interruptions,
probable damage to bridges and road surfaces, accidents, traffic
congestions and public concerns.

It was attended by representatives from
the Royal Brunei Police, Fire Brigade, Public Works Department, the
Belait District Office as well as kampung ketuas. Two of the MCHE’s
will be transported from the Marine Construction Yard in Kuala Belait
on the 4th and 6th of next month at 12 midnight. The journey will
take three and a half hours. The whole project to replace the four
MHCE’s costs about 150 million Brunei dollars. |
