North Flank |
| |
 |
|
A new oil field has been discovered at the
Seria Shallow Marine North Flank. The find is the fifth successive oil
discovery in the same area by the Brunei Shell Petroleum Company, BSP.
This means BSP has achieved a one-hundred percent exploration strike
rate in the area. The latest discovery is approximately one kilometre
offshore the Anduki airfield. It was drilled in October last year. |
|
| |
The well will be completed next year to provide early production from
the area. Evaluation work is underway to better determine the size of
the discovery and production could possibility commence two or three
years from now. The finding in the Seria field is expected to
contribute to BSP’s overall production in the long run. At present, the
Seria field produces 25 thousand barrels of oil per day.

According to BSP, the latest discovery will be an
important contributor to the future of the oil production of Brunei
Darussalam and boosting BSP’s existing oil position. According to BSP,
the company plans to drill up to five more exploratory appraisal
offshore wells into the Seria North Flank area in 2006 through 2007. |
