Being a doctor and a specialist or generally as a health worker, is not an easy task. Apart from being highly intellectual, experienced and knowledgeable, they also must be diligent, fully committed and responsible. Those who wish to be doctors must have some innate characters such as compassion, loving and caring qualities. The Minister of Health stated this during a meeting session with doctors.

Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Suyoi said doctors face their patients all the time. Hence, in order to give the correct diagnose and provide confidence and hope to the patients and their families, doctors need to communicate well with their patients.

The Minister also reminded that in most all circumstances, people went to hospitals or clinics expected to be given comfort and attention, and only doctors who have the compassion and caring attitude could provide the treatment they desire.

More than 200 doctors comprising specialists, senior medical officers, medical officers and dentists attended the 1st meeting session with the Minister of Health. Such session provides opportunity for interactions and exchange of opinions apart from discussing current health issues. Another attempt to smuggle contraband goods into the country was rendered futile when officers of the Royal Brunei Custom and Excise successfully intercept the illegal activity. Nearly 400 bottles of alcoholic drinks of various brand and 180 kilogrammes of frozen dubious meat were confiscated by the authority.

Officers of the Prevention and Intelligence Division of the Royal Brunei Custom and Excise conducted the operation in areas around the Brunei waters. Around a quarter to midnight on Thursday night, a man suspected of smuggling the contraband goods, got away after realising he was being followed by the officers, leaving behind the goods and the boat he was using at the boat-landing jetty in Kampong Perpindahan Mentiri.
