Crown Prince honours winners of a Golf
Tournament in conjunction with Civil Service Day |

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince
- has presented prizes - to winners of the 6th Inter-Ministries Golf
Tournament. The championship was organised in conjunction with Civil
Service Day. |

The Ministry of Development won the team event. The
event was to vie for the challenge trophy contributed by His Royal
Highness the Crown Prince himself. The individual event was won by Han
Kiem Kwang.
The VIP catogery was won by Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib
Pengiran Anak Haji Idris.

The winner in the Sponsor's catogery was Haji Sabri
Haji Naweh. For division 'A' with handicap 0 to 11, the prize was won by
Dato Paduka Haji Sheikh Adanan bin Sheikh Mohamad. In Division 'B' with
handicap 12 to 17, the title went to Haji Mohamad Sharifuddin bin Haji
Mohamad Salleh. Meanwhile Haji Kamzani Noordin won in division 'C' with
handicap 18 to 24.
Around 177 golfers took part in the annual tournament
which kicked off on Friday. Apart from enhancing relationship between
the ministries, the championship also tries to instil the spirit of
sportsmanship among the officers and staff of the civil service. |

DPMM FC beat Johor two-one in the Malaysian
Premier league. |

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muthadee Billah,
the Crown Prince was at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last night
to watch the Brunei DPMM FC played in the Malaysian Premier League.

The Brunei DPMM FC collected three full points after
it defeated Johor by two goals to one. In the first half of the match
both teams failed to score. In the second half of the match, with new
strategy and team spirit DPMM FC's import player Mathew MButa Andongcho
managed to score in the early minute of the second half. Johor equalised
in the 16th minute through Ahmad Latif Khamarudin. But eight minutes
later, Mathew MButa Andongcho scored a victory goal for DPMM FC. Home
team's next match will be an away game against Penang NTFA on the 12th
ot this month. |

The National flag symbolises Brunei's sovereignty.
The Culture, Youth and Sports Minister - Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa
Retired Major General - Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Awang Mohammad - spoke
prior to the flag hoisting - marking the 22nd National day - and the
distribution of national day posters
The Minister who also the Chairman Committee of The National Day
celebration urged every rakyat and resident in the country to always
have positive attitude by hoisting national flags during the long
celebrations regardless of areas either in Kampongs or Mukims and
housing or commercial areas. |

The hoisting of the giant national flag was conducted
by twenty personnel of the Royal Brunei Navy followed with the National
Anthem.
At the ceremony, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports also
presented National flags and National Day Posters to District Officers
of the four districts. Like in the previous years, the hoisting of the
national flag marked as the curtain raiser that highlights the
auspicious occasion with the National Day mass gathering to be held on
the 23rd. of this month. This year's National Day celebration carries
the theme; 'Mempertingkatkan Daya Saing Bangsa' |

Religious Schools will
continue previous policies and practices.

The Ministry of
Religious Affairs is taking over Religious Schooling as from this year
and will continue similar policies and practices as those previously
under the Ministry of Education.
The statement
came from the Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma
Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr. Ustaz Haji Awang Mohamad Zain in a speech was
read by the Acting Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib
Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin at the Seminar in
Learning and Teaching in Religious Schooling held at the Jame' 'Asr
Hassanil Bolkiah.
The Minister
said, as from this year, the priority in teaching, guiding and educating
pupils in Religious Schools is focusing more effectively on the
importance of obligatory duty and he called on religious teachers to
ensure the priority and focus be taken seriously to ensure the smooth
and effective running of the programme at the main schools.
The one-day
seminar organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs was designed to
seek and discuss quality teaching and learning methods. More than 800
educators from the Islamic Studies Department nationwide attending the
seminar, discussed working papers to find outcomes to be utilised in
quality teaching and learning. Four centres for such seminars were
allocated particularly for participants according to their respective
academic fields. |
