His Majesty consented to receives audience from the Republic of Singapore

 

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to receive in audience the Second Minister for Defence and Minister for Manpower of the Republic of Singapore.

Present at the audience were the Deputy Minister of Defence, Pehin Retired Colonel Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yasmin and the Republic of Singapore’s Acting High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, Mr Stephen Lim. Also present were the Minister of Education, Pehin Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Rahman and the Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office, Dato Paduka Haji Sulaiman and the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat. The audience took place Monday at Istana Nurul Iman.

Meanwhile, Her Majesty the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha consented to receive in audience the wife of the Second Minister of Defence and Minister for Manpower of the Republic of Singapore, Mrs. Ivy Lim Swee Lian.

 
 

Accompanying Mrs. Lim at the audience were the wife of the Deputy Minister of Defence, Datin Hajah Noryasimah binti Abdullah and the wife of the Acting High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore Mrs. Lim Wei Ling. Mrs. Lim Swee Lian is in the country accompanying his husband. Also present at the audience was Datin Seri Utama Dayang Hajah Rosnah.

 

Crown Prince also consented to receives audience from the Republic of Singapore

 
 

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince, Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office consented to receive in audience the Second Minister for Defence and Minister for Manpower of the Republic of Singapore, His Excellency Doctor Ng Eng Hen.


The audience took place at Istana Nurul Iman. Present at the audience were the Deputy Minister of Defence, Pehin Retired Colonel Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yasmin and the Republic of Singapore’s Acting High Commissioner Mr. Stephen Lim. Strengthening relations in the field of human resources

 

Monday afternoon, His Excellency Dr Ng Eng Hen paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Adanan. The meeting took place at the secretariat building in the capital.

The visit is aimed at further strengthening relations between both countries especially in the field of human resources as well as enhancing the understanding of related field. Also present during the call was the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Dani.

 

Finance launching to fulfill public aspiration and define the vision, mission and corporate values

 

A briefing on Financial Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Finance enters its second day today at the ministry’s premises in Berakas. The plan is set up to fulfill public aspiration and to define the vision, mission and corporate values of the Ministry of Finance as well as its agencies, for shaping an overall strategy parallel with the Civil Service vision.

The vision clearly explains the continuous efforts of the ministry in strengthening the country’s fundamental economy through fiscal and efficient monetary policy based on the best international practice. The Second Minister of Finance laid the emphasis at the launch of the plan Monday.

Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Rahman said that the ministry is aware that the ministry face numerous opportunities and challenges and that in view of this it is important that officers and staff of the institution be more proactive and creative in benefiting the existing strength.

Hence the strategic plan is structured as a critical road map for the ministry to move forward. Pehin also advised Heads of department and sections to monitor and upgrade training relevant to the service. He went on to say that identified factors of critical success should continue to be maintained and practiced. These include among others, a disciplined and vision oriented work force, customer friendly procedures, source of quality information, process based on good governance and conducive work environment.

Pehin stressed on the importance of monitoring the implementation of amended strategy and continuous nurturing of positive values aside from upgrading training programme for all officers and staff inclusive of expanding effective careers as part of efforts in elevating the scope of skills in manpower and capacity building. The launching was followed by a briefing of the ministry’s internal strategic plan that was delivered by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Dato Paduka Haji Ali.

 

61 teachers completed a 4-week pre-vocational induction programme course

 

A group of vocational and technical teachers at secondary schools has been sharpening their skills and knowledge in preparation for teaching pre-vocational students. The 61 teachers from secondary schools throughout the country have just completed a 4-week pre-vocational induction programme course organised by the special education unit of the Ministry of Education.

Organised by the special education unit of the Ministry of Education, the course is in preparation for teaching pre-vocational students with special needs such as autistic and hyper-active children at their respective schools.

During the course, the teachers were exposed to concept, programme structure, procedure and educational strategy for pre-vocational students through briefings, talks, workshops and study visits to secondary schools, vocational institutions, food processing factory and the Pusat Ehsan. The Acting Assistant Director of Special Education Unit, Awang Haji Abdullah bin Haji Saidi presented the certificate to the course participants. The function took place at the unit’s building in Gadong.
