A
donation for the Brunei Darussalam’s
National day Celebration |

In glorifying Brunei Darussalam’s
National day Celebration this year, private sectors in the country
Monday donated more than 130 thousand dollars in cheques and
sponsored goods. |
|
The donations were handed over to the
Minister of Culture Youth and Sports, Pehin Major General Retired
Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Mohammad who is also the Chairman of
Executive Committee of the Brunei Darussalam’s 22nd National Day
Celebration. |
|
Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sendirian
Berhad, BSP, Brunei Liquified Natural Gas Sendirian Berhad, BLNG,
Brunei Shell Tankers Sendirian Berhad, BST, and Brunei Shell
Marketing Company Sendirian Berhad, BSM donated One hundred thousand
dollars. Sunlit Advertising Sendirian Berhad, meanwhile presented
more than 14 thousand dollars. |

The donation came from a proceed of the
selling of banners. Also presented to the executive committee of the
celebration were sponsored goods consisting of mineral water, caps
and ice-cream. |

The first signing ceremony on education holds
in Singapore |

The Minister of Education, Pehin Dato Seri
Setia Haji Abdul Rahman is in Singapore for a three day working visit
beginning Monday. The minister will pay a courtesy call to Singapore’s
Education Minister, His Excellency Tharman Shanmugaratnam. |
|
The two ministers are to sign a Memorandum of
Understanding on Educational Cooperation representing Brunei’s and
Singapore’s governments. This is the first signing ceremony on education
ever made by the two countries and it is hoped that through it, the
cooperation which already exists will be upgraded and maintained.
Brunei’s Minister of Education will visit the
Ministry of Education of Singapore, National Institute of Education,
schools as well as a sports school. The minister’s visit is to monitor
the latest educational system in the republic & identify the new
initiatives implemented by the Singapore’s Ministry of Education. |

The Brunei delegation includes the Permanent
Secretary of Education - several senior officers including the Dean of
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education as well as school
principals and head teachers. |

A two day cyber crime investigation course |

A two day cyber crime investigation course
started Monday. Twenty five participants, representing the Internal
Security Department, Attorney General’s Chambers and Royal Brunei Police
Force are attending the course. |
|
The Head of Training Section of Royal Brunei
Police Force, Superintendent, Awang Ibrahim bin Hassan urged
participants to get as many useful tools as possible from it and use
whichever tools are useful to combat cyber crime & online criminals. |
|
The course is conducted by Deputy Regional
Police Attache of the French embassy to Singapore, Lieutenant Eric
Fradin. The course is being held at the Police Learning Centre in Beribi. |

A full rehearsal of the 22nd National Day
celebration will be held this Saturday at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar
Ali Saifuddien in the capital. In regard to this, several main roads in
the capital will be closed to traffic as from six in the morning. |
|
The roads affected are the T-junction traffic
light of Jalan Tutong/Jalan Dato Hj Basir, T-junction traffic light of
Jalan Tasek Lama/Jalan Stoney, T-junction traffic light of Jalan Sungai
Kianggeh/Jalan Bendahara, T-junction traffic light of Jalan Sungai
Kianggeh/Jln Elizabeth Dua, T-junction traffic light of Jalan Sungai
Kianggeh/Jalan Residency, all along Jalan Sultan, Jalan Pemancha and
Jalan Cator. |

Members of the public who wish to witness the
event can park their vehicles by the roadsides of Jalan Sumbiling, Jalan
Istana Darussalam or the Open Space of the Seri Complex Mile One. The
police have reminded the public not to park their vehicles on the
roadside along the route, and to give cooperation and abide by the
police instructions. |

Royal Dias in Kuala Belait is under
construction |

The new Royal Dais which is located at the
Bandaran Padang in Kuala Belait is under construction. The stage which
costs nearly 420 thousand dollars will replace the old dais which was
built in nineteen sixties. |
|

Construction works began early this year and
is expected to be fully completed in May. This new structure will become
a permanent Royal Dias and will be used during the 60th anniversary of
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s
birthday celebration this year. Among the characteristics is its design
which shows the Malay traditional concept. The states can accommodate
more than 6 hundred guests. |

The Bandaran Padang is the only venue or
special location for several major events or mass gatherings in Belait.
These include celebrations to mark His Majesty’s birthday celebration
and mass gathering to commemorate Maulidur Rasul. The Padang will also
become the main focus for sports events. |
