Majesty consents to receive audience the Chief of the Air Staff of Pakistan |

His Majesty Sultan
Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mui’zaddien Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang
Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has received in audience the Chief
of the Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force His Excellency Air Chief
Marshall Kaleem Saadat Hakim. The audience took place at Istana
Nurul Iman Saturday.
The Air Chief Marshall is in the country on an official introductory
visit. Also Present were the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed
Forces Pehin Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi, the
Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Paduka Haji
Sulaiman Bin Haji Ismail and the Permanent Secretary at The Ministry
of Defence Awang Haji Mustapa Bin Haji Sirat. The High Commissioner
of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Brunei
Darussalam, His Excellency Retired Major General Syed Haider Jawed
also was present.
Meanwhile in another part of Istana Nurul Iman, Her Majesty Raja
Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha received the wife of the Chief of
the Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force. At the audience, Her
Majesty consented to receive a souvenir from Mrs. Rukhsana Kaleem.
Accompanying Mrs Kaleem were the wife of the Commander of the Royal
Brunei Armed Forces, Datin Hajah Kalsum and the wife of the High
Commissioner of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam
Mrs. Fauzia Jawed. Also present was Datin Seri Utama Dayang Hajah
Rosnah.

Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Deputy Inspector
General Police, and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri
Pengiran Anak Sarah have attended a High Tea Reception in-conjunction
with His Royal Highness’s 32nd Birthday Anniversary - hosted by the
Royal Brunei Police Force.
Upon arrival at the Officers’s Mess of the Police Force Headquarters in
Gadong, Their Royal Highnesses were greeted by the Commissioner of
Police, Pehin Dato Paduka Seri Zainuddin as well as other Senior
Officers of the force. Also present were His Royal Highness Prince Abdul
Malik and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajjah Masna, the Commandant of
the Women Police. Subsequently Their Royal Highnesses mingled with the
Forces officers and staff. At the reception, His Royal Highness cut the
birthday cake and received a ‘‘Pasambah’’ presented by the Commissioner
of Police.
To bless the ceremony, a Doa Kesyukuran was read by the Imam of the
Royal Brunei Police Force’s Surau, Awang Haji Abdullah Bin Haji Karim.
Before departing, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince then signed the
parchment slip. His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was appointed as the
Deputy Inspector General Police on 5th of May 2005 by His Majesty the
Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei.

His Royal Highness
Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, the President of Brunei Darussalam National
Olympic Council, reminded all national sport associations who are
members of the Council to pay their affiliation fees. His Royal Highness
made the sabda at a ceremony to hand over the National Flag to the Chef
de’ Mission of Brunei Darussalam’s contingent to the 18th Commonwealth
Game, Saturday.
His Royal Highness, went on to say that that those associations who
failed to do so, will not be recognised as Council affiliates or
eligible to participate in any sport championships. His Royal Highness
also called on national sports associations to examine carefully the
guide lines for selection of athletes who will represent the country at
the regional and international sports events.
The selections His Royal Highness added should be made through local
competition as well as base on the currently enforced regulations. The
President presented the national flag to the Chef De mission of the
country’s contingent, Awang Jaafar bin Bangkol. Six athletes of a lawn
bowling team will represent the country at the sport meet. The ceremony
took place at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

The Minister of Energy urges to be more active and forthcoming in
communicating with the media |

The Minister of Energy
at the Prime Minister’s Office urged government agencies to be more
active and forthcoming in communicating with the media. As the major
source of information within the government, these agencies should use
the mass-media as a link in channeling information to the masses.
Pehin Dato Seri Paduka Haji Yahya made the call at a function to
celebrate Pelita Brunei’s Golden Jubliee, Saturday. Pehin also said that
in their bid to disseminate information to the people, they must be
aware of the need to keep a peaceful nation& know the laws and
procedures currently being enforced.
At the function, winners of the Pelita Brunei’s Golden Jubliee Creative
Logo Design Competition received prizes and certificates. Pehin Dato
Seri Paduka Haji Yahya also launched the Pelita Brunei’s Annual Report
Book 2004. |

Towards
enhancing the health services apart from embracing
the spirit of 'Hijrah'. |

Upgrading the quality
of health services should take into account the lessons derived from the
true meaning of Hijrah. The Hijrah celebration is not merely marking a
change of a year, but also as a reminder on its influence on the Muslim
Ummah.
The Minister of Health, Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Suyoi made the remarks at
a celebration marking the New Year of Hijrah Saturday. Pehin said the
spirit of Hijrah or determination to change must improve the quality of
health.
Quality should be practiced at all levels of management from health
promotion, prevention and control of diseases to financial management,
training and general administration, inline with the corporate culture
of professionalism, team-work and caring.
The function was highlighted with a religious talk by an officer from
the Dakwah Islamiah Centre, Awang Adi Zaki bin Haji Metassim. Saturday’s
function also coincided with a doa kesyukuran, welcoming the return of
the ministry’s staff members after performing the Haj. |

Responsibility to the nation requires the recipients to respect, support and
uphold the Nation’s aspiration |

Citizens of Brunei
Darussalam should take into serious consideration their roles and
responsibilities, among others, to the nation, ruler and government,
responsibility to the community and family.
The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Dani
emphasised this at the presentation of certificates of citizenship,
Saturday. In addressing some 251 recipients of the certificates, Pehin
said a responsibility to the nation, require the recipients to respect,
support and uphold the Nation’s aspiration as a whole, for the benefit
and development of the nation.
Pehin also advised them to have a close cooperation with the local
leaders and society such as the penghulu and head of villages by
involving in welfare activities through the Kampung Consultative
Council, Youth and Welfare Associations and Sport Clubs.
From the 251 recipients, 85 were Permanent Residents who were born in
Brunei Darussalam, 154 were wives of Brunei Darussalam’s citizens, while
12 were permanent residents who were born outside the country. Earlier,
the recipients were briefed on their roles and responsibilities as
subjects of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei
Darussalam.
These included embracing the principles of the national ideology of a
Malay Islamic Monarchy, or MIB and Brunei customs. The briefing was
aimed at giving the recipients deeper understanding of Bruneians way of
life which ould enable them to mix and assimilated into the community.
The briefing also explained the special rights of every new citizen
while at the same time they were reminded that they are committed to
their new responsibilities as citizen of Brunei Darussalam. |
