His
Majesty congratulates Kuwait on its National Day |

His Majesty Sultan Haji
Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of
Brunei Darussalam, expressed his satisfaction with the warm and friendly
relations and deep understanding that have so long been established
between Brunei Darussalam and Kuwait. His Majesty hoped the cordial ties
would be maintained and enhanced in the future for the good of the two
countries and people. This was expressed in a message of congratulations
to His Royal Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir
of Kuwait, on the occasion of Kuwait’s National Day, today. His Majesty
the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam also prays that the
Emir of Kuwait will always remain in good health, and for the people of
Kuwait to always enjoy continued progress and prosperity.

Meanwhile, His Royal
Highness Prince Mohammad Bolkiah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and
Trade, also conveyed congratulatory messages to the Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, Sheikh Doctor
Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, on the occasion of the National Day of
Kuwait. In the message, His Royal Highness expressed his appreciation
with the excellent relations between two countries, and looked forward
to continuing the work with His Excellency to strengthen friendship and
cooperation. |

Ceremony scheduled to be held today at 9am at Istana Nurul Iman has been
changed to Saturday, the 4th of March 2006, at the same time. |

Several opticians
selling Bausch & Lomb’s ReNu multipurpose solution in the country has
removed the product from their shelves and suspended the sale following
the recent increase in fungal eye infection among contact lens users in
Singapore. Brunei’s Ministry of Health has advised consumers to stop
using Bausch and Lomb’s ReNu multi-purpose lens solution as a
precautionary measure following a rise in fungal eye infection cases
among contact lens users in Singapore |

In a statement
released, the ministry advised users to stop using the lens solution
immediately as it has the potential to cause serious consequences to
eyesight caused by fungal infection to the cornea. Bausch and Lomb
agents in Brunei have suspended sales of the product to facilitate the
ongoing investigation. Contact lens users have been advised to use other
alternative solutions and to practise proper care and correct use.
Singapore has reported on Tuesday that there has been a rise in the
number of fungal infections of the eye among contact lens users. A total
of 39 cases were detected, up from the 22 reported previously. The
solution’s US manufacturer said Monday it began testing retained samples
from the affected batches after Singapore health authorities notified it
of a possible link between its product and an increase in fungal corneal
infections. |

Ehsan organizes drawing and colouring competition to mark National Day |

Various activities have
been lining up in celebrating Brunei Darussalam 22nd National Day
anniversary. One such public orientated activity held Friday was a
drawing and colouring competition organized by the Pusat Ehsan. The
event was launched by a Member of the Pusat Ehsan’s Board of Trustees,

The competition was
designed to instill interests and brush-up the children’s artistic
talents. The annual event received an overwhelming response with some
four hundred children between four and twelve years old participated.
The main theme of the competition is patriotism the core of the nation’s
strength. |

Francaise De Brunei hosts two-week art exhibition |

Alliance Francaise De
Brunei is hosting a two-week art exhibition which expose “Origins” by
Valeria Thomson. Valeria Torres Luna Thomson was born and raised in Rio
De Janeiro, Brazil. Seven years ago, she moved to Brunei Darussalam
where she lived with her husband. Ever participated in an international
art exhibition worldwide, this is her first solo exhibition representing
sixteen of her magnificent art pieces which idea was produced during the
artist’s travel to Brazil. |

The exhibition was
officiated at last night by the French Ambassador’s spouse, Mrs.
Christiane Bounneville. The exhibition will be open to public for view
at Alliance Francaise De Brunei Building at No. 29, Simpang 130-15 Jalan
Telanai from Monday to Thursday and Saturday from 9am until 12 noon and
from 3pm until 6.30pm. |
