Parents are urged to
play pro-active role in contributing to the academic success of their
children and that teachers should not be held solely responsible for
such accomplishments. Family problems could also be a factor to student
failure. The Commandant of the Boys Wing of the Institute of Training of
the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Haji Said laid the
emphasis at a signing ceremony of the 28th intake of the centre, Friday. |
|
According to the
Commandant, mental and physical fitness are insufficient if devoid of
intense determination and discipline. He called on the young soldiers to
adhere to regulations while undergoing training. He also reminded them
to keep away from misuse of drugs that will only lead to one’s
destruction and impair whatever hope held by their parents. A total of
twenty-one secondary students who passed their Lower Secondary
Assessment Examination join the Military Academy. |

|
They will undergo military
training and attend academiccourses for the GCE ‘O’ Level Examination at the
Boys Wing Training Centre at the Penanjong Garrison for a period of thirty
months commencing today. They will also have the opportunity to attend
technical courses within the country and overseas. The Boys Wing was
established early in 1979 and to date, it has produced more than eight
hundred technicians including seventy-two officers. |
