Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha this afternoon consented to attend a wedding ceremony between Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Hamidah Jamalul Bolqiah, the daughter of His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Norhayati, and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul 'Ali Yil-Kabier,

 

 
 

the son of Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz.

 
 

 

Upon arrival at the groom's residence in Kampung Telanai, Her Majesty was welcomed by Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz.

 
 

Present at the ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Salleh Ab' Rahaman, Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah and Yang Mulia Datin Dayang Hajah Faezah. Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha later consented to attend the Bersanding Ceremony at the Bride's residence in Jerudong. Upon arrival there, Her Majesty was welcomed by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Norhayati.

Brunei’s run in 1st Islamic Solidarity Games comes to an end
 
 

The First Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia entered its ninth day Sunday with three events namely Tennis, Water Polo and Weight Lifting held. Brunei's participation has ended with the last event – the Sabre Fencing team event competed Saturday afternoon.

 
   

The Brunei team was made up of Yunus Haji Hamid, Mohd Hamiz Abdullah, Nizalmi Mohd Niah and Yusmarizal who challenged a team from Egypt, a representative of the African Continent to the Olympic Games. In this competition, Brunei lost 13-45. In fighting for ranking position, Brunei lost 36-45 to Turkey. The Brunei team also lost in the final match 31-45 to Malaysia.

 
 

Meanwhile in Tennis, Brunei ended their challenge in the team event for the group five ranking by beating Sudan two-one. With that victory, Brunei was placed second. Earlier Brunei defeated Djibouti two-one but lost to the host team, Saudi Arabia zero-three. As the team champion, Saudi Arabia has qualified to the quarter finals. In the Doubles event, Brunei lost to the pair from Guinea Bissau 3-6, 4-6.

 

 
 

 

 
 

Mahkota Emas comes out tops in 9-a-side football championship

 
   

The importance of health through physical and recreational activities has brought a greater sense of awareness among people in the country. Football, a well known sport in the country was one of the main activities of the day. It has generated a positive response in creating a healthy and dynamic society.

 
 

Sunday morning, the final of a nine-a-side football championship, was held at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex. The winner came out be the Mahkota Emas team. The winning team defeated the A.S.F.C. by four goals to three in a penalty shootout. Both teams drew one-all for the entire 90 minute encounter.

 

 
 

Meanwhile, the Kuala Lurah Team secured the third place after defeating the AKSE team by two goals to nil also through penalty kick. Both teams could not find the net until the end of the match.

 
 

Prizes were given away by the Brunei Muara District Officer, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Adnan. The Mahkota Emas team received one thousand dollars in cash prize and a trophy.

 
 

Municipal Enforcement team emerges champ in Belait’s Immigration Futsal Championship

 
   

The Kuala Belait Municipal Enforcement team emerged as the winner in the final of the Immigration Futsal Championship for the Belait District branches. They defeated the team representing the Immigration Control Post from Bandar Seri Begawan and Temburong.

 
 

The Kuala Belait Municipal Enforcement team beat the opponent by five goals to one in the final Sunday afternoon. Earlier they overcame stiff challenge from 18 other teams before qualifying for the final. A total of 20 teams vied for top places in the championship, which saw the participation of representatives from enforcement agencies from four districts, including an invited team from Miri, Sarawak.

 

 
 

Prizes were given away by the Acting Director of Immigration and National Registration, Awang Zainal Abidin. The championship was organised by the Kuala Belait immigration and National Registration office.
