His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Dipertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran anak Hajah Saleha are currently in Kuala Lumpur on a 4-day state visit. Their Majesties left for the Malaysian capital yesterday afternoon.

 
 

Present at the Brunei International Airport to bid safe journey to Their Majesties were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah and Yang Mulia Datin Hajah Faezah binti

His Majesty and Her Majesty arrived in Kuala Lumpur at about six yesterday evening. The special aircraft carrying Their Majesties landed at the Royal Malaysian Air Force Base in Subang. Present to welcome the Brunei Royalties were the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Syed Hamid Albar and wife, Yang Berbahagia Datin Seri

 
 

Syarifah Aziah Syed Zainal Abidin and the Minister of Information as Minister-in-attendance, Yang Berhormat Dato Sri Abdul Kadir Bin Haji Sheikh Fadzir and Yang Berbahagia Datin Sri Suraya binti Mohamad Noah.

 
 

Shortly after the arrival, His Majesty passed through a static guard mounted by 24 members of the Royal Malaysian Armed Forces before proceeding to his motorcade. The visit is at the invitation of Yang Di Pertuan Agong Malaysia, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail in reciprocating the King's visit to Brunei in August 2002. several working visits to Malaysia to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and to enhance the close relations shared by the 2 countries. His Majesty's last state visit to Malaysia was in August 1997. Bilateral cooperation between the two countries include trade and investment, defence, technical assistance, communications, education, tourism and on the ASEAN sub-economic zone, BIMP-EAGA.

 
 

His Majesty presides the swearing-in of new judicial members

 
 

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang DiPertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to preside over the swearing-in ceremony of President of the Court of Appeal of Brunei Darussalam and two Judicial Commissioners of the Supreme Court.

 

 
 

 

The function took place at the Istana Nurul Iman. Present were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah. The letters of appointment were read by the Grand Chamberlain, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana Pengiran Haji Alauddin.

 
 

First to be sworn in was President of the Court of Appeal of Brunei Darussalam, Dato Seri Paduka Sir Derek Cons. Born on 15th July 1928, Dato Seri Paduka was first appointed as President of the Court of Appeal of Brunei Darussalam in 2003 up to 2005. Dato Sir Derek Cons' current appointment was an extension for a period of another two years.

 
 

Next to be sworn in was Judge John Barry Mortimer who was appointed as Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court. Born on 7th August 1931, Judge Mortimer was the Vice President and a Non-Permanent Judge of the Hongkong Court of Final Appeal.

 
 

Also sworn in was the Chief Registrar at the Supreme Court, Awang Hairolarni bin Haji Abdul Majid who was also appointed as Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam. He was born on 6th March 1962. Awang Hairolarni first served as a Counsel at the Attorney General's Chamber for 4 years before being appointed as Chief Magistrate and Intermediate Court Judge.

 
 

The country's health indicators are inline with the WHO guideline says Princess Rashidah

 
 

Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Saadatul Bolkiah in a sabda said residents of Brunei Darussalam should be grateful over the country's health indicators that are inline with the World Health Organisation guideline for mothers and children's healthcare.

 

 
 

Her Royal Highness said this year's theme should be wisely used to upgrade efforts in assisting mothers and children to face current challenges pertaining to health. Her Royal Highness made the remark at the Launch of the World Health Day in Gadong. Her Royal Highness urge every family, associations, professionals, the private sector as well as the media to uphold the service policy and health programmes that are being and will be implemented by the government in ensuring that all mothers and children enjoyed a quality life.

 
  The World Health Day is celebrated annually on 7th April worldwide. This year's celebration carries the theme 'Healthy Mothers and Healthy Children' with the slogan ‘Make Every Mother and Child Count'.  
 

Brunei spends over 700 millions dollars to implement e-government

 
 

Brunei Darussalam has spent 742 million dollars or 80 percent of the overall allocation of 950 million dollars in the implementation of e-government projects. So far, 49 projects have been approved by the National Tender Board. This was disclosed by the Permanent Secretary at Prime Minister's Office at the launching of Updated Technology Seminar, this afternoon at the Ministry of Finance.

 
 

Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hazair also touched on job opportunities for system analysis in ICT field. The government, He identified the need of One thousand five hundred people in implementing and supervising the e-government systems. According to statistic obtained from the Company Registrar of the State Law Department, there is an increase in local ICT companies which have registered since 2001. From the year 2001 until 2005, a total of 80 ICT companies that have registered including those which have joint-venture with foreign ICT companies.

 
 

The seminar was organised by the Perkhidmatan Kejuruteraan Bersepadu, SHINBA, with the collaboration of Edaran Digital System Berhad, Malaysia. During the seminar, the Regional Manager of South Asia, Mr. Christopher Teng, talked on Enterprise Content Management, E-C-M, system and Business Intelligence Solution, B-I-S.
