His Majesty makes working visit to Mukim Pekan Tutong

 

 

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Thursday consented to make a working visit to Mukim Pekan Tutong. His Majesty’s arrival at the Kampung Penanjong Primary School was welcomed by the Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Adanan and his deputy, Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Dani. Also welcoming His Majesty were the Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Home Affairs and the Tutong District Officer

His Majesty’s itinerary began with a visit to a building housing of the Kampung Penanjong Pemudi-Pemuda Association of Tutong, PERDA, before stopping over at the residence of Head Village of Kampung Penanjong Tutong, Awang Ahmad Juriah bin Haji Ibrahim. The Monarch also visited the Coastal Erosion Control Project along Kampung Penanjong Beach. His Majesty then proceeded to the Muda Hashim Secondary School, where His Majesty had a closer look at the facilities and the learning environment and took time to mingle with the teachers and students of the school.

 
 

Subsequently, His Majesty visited the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital. The hospital has been selected as a quarantine and treatment centre in the event of an outbreak of bird flu in the country. Next, His Majesty toured the Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School before going to the home of Kampung Panchor Village Head, Awang Haji Kepli bin Abang Sepawi. This followed with visits to the Kampung Serambangun Open Market, the Police Station, the Fire Station, the Persatuan Pakatan Tutong Filling Station, the OG Complex and Tutong’s Sports Complex.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam then consented to proceed to the Main Hall of the Tutong Civic Centre for luncheon and get-together session with residents of Pekan Tutong and its surrounding vicinity. The visit is a follow-up to a number of previous visits to mukims in rural areas. These visits demonstrate His Majesty’s concern on the welfare of his rakyat and people and to have a close and personal look at the developmental progress of mukims and villages.

 
 

Voluntary work to demolish old house in Kampung Sumbiling Lama

 
 

Residents of Mukim Sungai Kedayan in the Brunei Muara District were out in force Friday involved in a voluntary work demolishing an old house in Kampung Sumbiling Lama. The house was owned by Awang Haji Zainal bin Yakub.

Aside from the Brunei Muara District Officer, Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yussof bin Bakar, the voluntary work also involved personnel of the Fire and Rescue Service Department as well as the Electrical Department. The purpose of pulling down the vacated house is to prevent it from being misused by certain people as a den for undesired activities such as drug taking.

 
 

Residents of Kampung Senukoh nominate new village headman

 

Residents of Kampung Senukoh in Mukim Labu in the Temburong District have nominated a new village headman. The sole candidate is 47-year-old Awang Akbar @ Ali Akbar bin Haji Abdul Hamid, a former employee of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

 
  A total of 113 registered voters cast their ballots in the presence of the Temburong District Officer, Pengiran Abdul Haris bin Pengiran Haji Shabudin. The post of Ketua Kampung Senukoh has been left vacant since the 1st of August 2001 following the resignation of Awang Haji Yakop bin Haji Ongsang and was deputised by Awang Akbar since the 10th of December last year. Kampung Senukoh is home to 207 people. Friday’s voting was held at the Kampung Senukoh Community Hall.
 
 

Charity Walk to be held tomorrow at Jerudong Park Country Club

 

Some four thousand people are expected to take part in a Charity Walk to be held tomorrow at the Jerudong Park Country Club. The event is part of the programmes that have been lined up to mark the 85th Anniversary of the Formation of the Royal Brunei Police Forces.

The Acting Head of Police Public Relations Unit, Pengiran Mohamad Roslin bin Pengiran Haji Bakar disclosed this in an interview with RTB’s Rampai Pagi on Friday. He said that the walk will also involve personnel of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, the Fire and Rescue Department and the private sector. The walk will commence at half past six in the morning.
