His Majesty left for Qatar to begin three-day state visit

 

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, arrived in Doha, Qatar today, to begin a three-day state visit. His Majesty’s special aircraft landed at Doha International Airport at 20 minutes past midnight local time.

Upon arrival in Doha, His Majesty was greeted by the Assistant Chief Protocol of the Emiri Hall, His Excellency Ebrahim Ahmed Al-Maliki. Also at the airport to welcome His Majesty were the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Pehin Dato Seri Paduka Lim Jock Seng, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sallehuddin and Brunei Darussalam’s Temporary Charge’ d’ Affairs to Qatar, Awang Haji Ali Hassan bin Haji Mohd. Salleh. This is His Majesty’s first state visit to Qatar this year. His Majesty last visited Qatar in June last year, when His Majesty was attending the Second Summit of the Southern Nations G77 and China in Doha.

 
 

His Majesty’s itinerary for the current visit includes visits to the Ras Laffan Industrial City, the main natural gas production and supply centre in Qatar, and the Sports Academy, Aspire, that the centre for development of young athletes. His Majesty will also take a closer look at the progress of Qatar’s economy and development projects. While in Qatar, His Majesty will stay at the Four Seasons Hotel in Doha.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam left the country for a six-day state visit to Qatar and United Arab Emirates, Friday afternoon. Before leaving the country, doa selamat was read by the State Mufti, Pehin Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Abdul Aziz. From Qatar, His Majesty will continue for another three-day state visit to the United Arab Emirates.

 
 

Present at the Brunei International Airport to bid farewell to His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince; His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bolkiah and His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malik. Also present were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Councils, Deputy Ministers and senior government officers.

 

Popular stage musical performance organised by ISB opens

 

The popular stage musical, organised by the International School Brunei, opened to rapturous applause for two consecutive nights at the Empire Theatre. Last night was the opening of the annual ISB performance. The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Retired Major General Pehin Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Mohammad, officiated at the opening. He received a memento to mark the event.

The students staged “Oliver”, one of the world’s most favourite musicals. More than one hundred primary and secondary students of ISB were involved in the show by acting, singing and dancing as well as performing in an orchestra. Meanwhile, members of the public are welcomed to watch the stage performance this evening which commence at half-past seven.

 

Dikir Syarafil Annam Competitions to mark Prophet’s birthday

 
 

The Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department won the Dikir Syarafil Annam Competition organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs and departments under it. The competition was held Friday as one of the events to commemorate the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad SAW. The Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department team defeated seven other contenders to win the challenge trophy.

Prizes were presented by the Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Adanan. It was hosted jointly by the Tutong District Office and the Tutong Municipal Board Department.

 
 

Meanwhile, the Nurul Huda team from the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in Tutong emerged the winners in another Dikir Syarafil Anam Competition. The event was organised by the Nursing Services Department of the Ministry of Health, also to mark the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Present at the gathering was the Director-General of Medical Services, Doctor Haji Affendy bin Pehin Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin. The competition was to vie for the challenge trophy donated by the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health, Dato Paduka Haji Serbini bin Haji Ali.
