His
Majesty visit various Gas Plants on the state visit to Qatar |

His Majesty Sultan Haji
Hassanal Bolkiah Muizadieen Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan
Negara Brunei Darussalam, visited the Qatar Gas plant on the first day
of a two-day state to Qatar. The plant is located in the Ras Laffan
industrial city. Our reporter Shadan Shaari in Doha files this report. |

His Majesty began the
day visiting Ras Laffan industrial city, located about 45 kilomters from
Doha. The Industrial city was built in 1993 when Ras Laffan liquified
natural gas plant was formed, as an early step to develop gas export
industry in Qatar. Qatar is blessed because of its strategic
geographical location, sitting in the middle of the biggest offshore gas
field in the world.

His Majesty later watch
a video presentation of Ras Laffan. Throughout the visit, His Majesty
was accompanied by His Excellency Mr Yousof Hussein Kamal, Minister of
Finance, Economy and Industry of Qatar. |

His Majesty later went
on a bus tour around the industrial city. The city covers a total area
of 106 square kilometer and is expected to expand to nearly 400 sq
kilometer by 2010. Ras Laffan's master plan will include the
construction of 16 LNG Trains, 7 Liquified natural gas projects, 5 gas
plants and 6 or 7 ethylene plants. Today, the city houses a gas plant,
Liquified gas plant, Helium plant and the largest LNG exporting facility
port in the world. |

Ras Laffan Industrial
City, like Brunei LNG, see the need for the future of the world's gas
industry to be diversify. Though the production of this natural
resources will last for several decades to come, a concerted efforts
need to be taken so that this industry would continue to develop for the
future generations. |

The academy is aim at
identifying promising young-athletes not only in Qatar but also from all
the Gulf states and around the world in general. It provide hi-tech
sport facilities, apart from offering a comprehensive intellectual
education.
The sport academy provide renowned coaches and highly skilled work
forces in their respected field from physical training to diet and
fitness. Various programmes and decipline are being offered. Among them
is phyciology, physioteraphy, medical, nutrition, bio-mechanic and
research. Currently, several sports have been identified including
football, swimming, gymnastic and athletic. |

His Majesty later toured
the Academy. Aspire Sports academy has a campus building equipped with labs,
playing field and the largest sports dome in the world, that will host the
2006 Asian Games.
The objective of the academy is more towards building and enhancing sports
talents among its students towards achieving sports excellence. Apart from
providing sport facilities, ASPIRE also offer scholarship to young athletes
among the developing countries.

prior to the briefing by the Minister of Finance, Economy and Industry
of Qatar, His Excellency Yousuf Hussein; the princIpal of ASHGHAL,
Engineer Zayed Mansoor Al-Khayarin; the Assistant General Manager of
Technical Affairs of the Public Works Department, Engineer Ahmad Sultan
Al-Kuwary; and the Chief Executive Officer of QATARI DIAR, Nasser Hassan
Al-Ansari. |

ASHGHAL Company which is
also known as the Public Works Authority of Qatar, is a freelance body
established to oversee all infrastructure projects and public faciities in
Qatar. QATARI DIAR is a property investment company owned by the Qatar
Economy and Investment Council which encourages the development of property
and investment opportunities in the country.
His Majesty also reviewed several models of development and investment
projects which have been planned and are being implemented under the two
companies. These include the construction of highways, the irrigation
system, hospitals, schools, recreational parks, sports village, ports,
hotels and golf courses. |

His Majesty Sultan Haji
Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah the Sultan and Yang Dipertuan Of
Brunei Darussalam has expressed his satisfaction with the warm and
friendly relations and deep understanding that have so long been
established between Brunei Darussalam and the Kingdom of Denmark. His
Majesty hopes that this would be maintained and enhanced in the future
for the good of the two countries and people. |

His Majesty's made the
remarks in congratulatory messages to Her Majesty Queen Margrethe the
second, the Queen of the Kingdom of Denmark and the Prime Minister of
the Kingdom of Denmark, His Excellency Anders Fogh Rasmussen on the
occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe the
second. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Dipertuan of Brunei Darussalam
also hopes that Her Majesty Queen Margrethe would always remain in good
health and happiness and for the people of the Kingdom of Denmark to
always enjoy continued progress and prosperity.
In the message to the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark, His
Majesty congratulates His Excellency and the Government and People of
the Kingdom of Denmark on the occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of
Her Majesty Queen Margrethe the second. His Majesty also wishes His
Excellency Anders Fogh Rasmussen his continued good health and happiness
and for the prosperity of the people of the Kingdom of Denmark.
Meanwhile His Royal Highness Prince Mohamad Bolkiah, the Minister of
Foreign Affairs and Trade has also sent a congratulatory message to
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, His Excellency Per Stig Moller,
on the occasion of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark's Birthday.
In the message, His Royal Highness congratulates Her Majesty, the Royal
family, the government and people of Denmark on her Majesty's birthday.
His Royal Highness also looks forward to continue working together in
the coming year for enhancing friendship and cooperation of both
nations. |

The
Minister of Health says shortage of health workers does not affect the
Health Care services |

The government of His
Majesty the Sultan and yang DiPertuan of Brunei Darussalam has allocated
a special budget for the health and medical services provision. However,
Brunei is still affected with a shortage of health workers such as
doctors, specialists, nurses in specialised fields and others. |
|
|
The Minister of Health,
Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Suyoi in a message to
mark World Health Day yesaterday. Nevertheless, he said the shortage has
not affected the health care given, in fact the health services provided
is on par with the best countries in the region. The Ministry of Health
continue to give special attention towards the provision of qualified
and skilful workforce in various fields of medical and health. |

At present, the
ministry has a total of more than five thousand six hundred workforce
covering a sum of 3 hundred and 60 types of treatment. From the total, 4
hundred 73 are specialists and doctors, one thousand 8 hundreds are
nurses, 8 hundred allied health professional and 2 thousand 5 hundred
and 27 are in other aid-services. The workforce are mainly locals who
are qualified in various fields of medical and health. In ensuring a
high quality and professional services within the health ministry,
several specialised fields has been diversified in assisting the
ministry to provide a more comprehensive and effective services.
The World Health Day this year focussed on the Health Workforce with the
slogan ' Working Together For Health'. The World Health Organisation
urgently called for global attention on the chronic shortage of health
workers, such as lack of professional workforce and migration of the
skilled workers to developed countries.

An
evening fire destroyed a double story house in Kampong Mentiri |
| |
|
A double-storey house
has been damaged by fire in Kampung Mentiri but no one was injured.
The house belonged to Awang Haji Nasar bin Haji Sawal who lived there
with his family of six. Two fire engines from Muara and one from Lambak
Kanan rushed to the scene and managed to control the fire from
spreading.
House occupants were not at home when the incident happened. The wooden
first floor was destroyed while the concrete ground floor was still
intact. The cause of fire, as well as the extent of damage and loss of
property is still being investigated. |

Brunei
defeat Penang in the latest Malaysian Premier league |

|
The DPMM FC collected
three full points with a 4 - 2 win against Penang's NTFA team in an away
match at the Stadium Negeri Batu Kawan in Penang.
The home team scored first in the 31st minute but the DPMM FC equalised
ten minutes later through a penalty kick.
Penang's NTFA team added another goal five minutes after the start of
the second half.
The DPMM FC drew level twenty minutes later and added two more goals in
the dying minutes of the game.
The team's next game will be against Kelantan on the 22nd of this month
at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas. |
