Pertiwi
Association holds 23rd General Assembly Meeting |

Since the establishment
of the Pertiwi Association in 1968, the united leadership still exists
until now. This is because many of the old members are still active and
work together with the new members. This was stated by the Permanent
Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports at the opening of
the 23rd General Assembly Meeting of the Pertiwi Association. |

Awang Haji Jemat bin
Ampal said the Pertiwi Association an affiliate of the Brunei Darussalam
Women Council is an active association in welfare activities not only to
its members but also to the needs of the communities such as giving
counseling services. Awang Haji Jemat added the excellent voluntary
ability need to be continued and upgraded in the country due to many
spaces that need to be entered by professional group in giving their
skills in voluntary works. |

The Permanent Secretary
also presented certificates to the association’s Executive Committee
Members for the 2000-2005 sessions for their high commitment and
dedication in leading the association to implement programmes entrusted
to the association. |
|
The one-day meeting
among others was to study and approve minutes of the 22nd General
Meeting, heard reports from the four districts and the appointment of
new executive committee for the year 2006-2008. The meeting was chaired
by the President of the association, Datin Paduka Hajah Jusnani binti
Haji Lawie. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and
Sports. |

Two local
security men are believed to have drown off Serasa Beach |

Two men were believed
to have drown off Serasa Beach, Sunday afternoon. They were Awang
Ibrahim bin Haji Hamdan, a Royal Brunei Police personnel and Awang
Norazman bin Haji Gemok, a soldier with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. |

The Brunei Muara
District Police said that they received a distress call pertaining to
incident and on locating the men, they took them to the Royal Brunei
Marine Clinic for initial treatment before rushing them to the RIPAS
Hospital where they were confirmed dead by the authority. The cause of
death is being investigated. According to one of the victim’s family,
the men went out at about four in the afternoon and at that time, the
sea condition was calm. |

collects three points after defeating Kelantan 4-0 in M’sian Premier League |

DPMM FC Brunei
collected three points after defeating Kelantan 4-0 on home ground match
in the Malaysian Premier League 2005/2006. The match was held Saturday
night at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium. |

Among the spectators
were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown
Prince; and His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malik. DPMM FC netted its
first goal in the 26th minutes by Rodrigo Antoniov Lombardo Tosi. The
second and third goals came from the team’s captain, Rosmin Haji Mohd.
Khamis in the 59th minutes and Tiago Dos Santos Roberto, a minute later.
Santos scored another goal for DPMM FC in the 69th minutes. |

Ministry
of Communications holds walkathon at Shahbandar Recreational Park |

The Ministry of
Communications and departments under it has held a walkathon as part of
their recreational activities toward promoting a healthy lifestyle among
their staff members. The event also tried to forge a closer rapport
amongst all level of staff through sport. The walkathon was held Sunday
at the Shahbandar Recreational Park. |

The participants were
joined by the Minister of Communications, Pehin Dato Seri Setia Haji Abu
Bakar. The men walked a distance of 2 kilometers, while women walked 1.5
kilometers. More than 300 people turned up for the event which was
hosted by the Land Transport Department. It is the department’s annual
activities to give awareness on the importance of healthy body in
elevating the quality of works, efficient and productive. |

Bukit
Dadap Challenge inconjunction with 22nd National Day |

The Kilanas
Consultative Council held the Bukit Dadap Challenge, Sunday. It was
organised inconjunction with the 22nd National Day celebration. Among
the participants was the Brunei Muara District Officer, Dato Paduka Haji
Mohd. Yussop bin Bakar. |

|
More than a hundred
people from all ages took part in the five kilometer jogathon. It was
jointly organised by the Brunei Muara District Office, Youth and Sports
Department and Tourism Development Department. The event took place at
the field of the Orang Kaya Setia Bakti Primary School in Kilanas. |
