Indonesia has described His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-pertuan of
Brunei Darussalam's visit to Aceh as a true show of concern by the monarch
towards the tsunami victims, and portrayal of the ever-strengthening of
relations between the two ASEAN neighbours. It said Brunei Darussalam's
assistance is important, and expressed its deepest appreciation. Meanwhile,
at home, donations continue to come in, in aid of the victims. The Coordinating Minister for the People's Welfare of the Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency Dr. Alwi Abdurrahman Shihab said His Majesty's day-long visit to Aceh further potrayed the friendship between Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia. It also reflected Brunei Darussalam's concern over the Tsunami victims in Aceh. His Majesty was the first foreign head-of-state to make such a visit to Aceh. Meanwhile, the Brunei Darussalam humanitarian relief contingent in Aceh said that they were most touched by His Majesty's visit to take a first hand look at the relief operation they are carrying out in delivering assistance.The relief contingent also expressed pride over His Majesty's care towards them. The Brunei Darussalam Humanitarian Relief contingent comprises of Personnel of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Doctors and Officials of the Ministry of Health and the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation. |

Ministry of Education donates over $300 thousand to the tsunami relief

| The Ministry of Education donated a total of 300 thousand eighty-one dollars and 68 cents to two relief funds for the survivors of the tsunami disaster. The Minister of Education, Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz handed over a sum of more than 100 thousand and 80 dollars to the Minister of Culture Youth and Sports, Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Lela Dato Seri Paduka Doctor Haji Awang Hussain who is the co-advisor of the National Relief Fund for the tsunami survivors. The Minister then presented a donation of 200 thousand dollars to the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation's Initiative Relief Fund for tsunami victims in Ache to the Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Directors, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin. The money were contributions from all staff members of the ministry, teachers and students from government and non-goverment schools as well as colleges and Institutions of Higher Learnings nationwide to the Ministry of Education's relief fund set up early last month. |

STPRI student receives a 60 thousand-dollar scholarship |

| A student at the Raja Isteri Girls' High School has been awarded a Scholarship by Charles Darwin University-Australia. She is Louisa Tan Pei Lleiu a former upper secondary student of STPRI who obtained the best results in the General Certificate of Examination 'A' Level. Louisa received a full scholarship for a four-year Bachelor of Engineering course at the University. The scholarship award was presented to her by the Australian High Commissioner in the country, His Excellency Christian Bennett. The full scholarship course is funded by the university at a cost of sixty thousand Australian dollars. The Charles Darwin University offers a full range of undergraduate and postgraduate engineering courses.
