Police detain murder suspect to aid in ongoing investigation |
| Police have detained a permanent resident who is believed to be involved in a murder case of a couple and their four-year old child in Kampung Serusop in December last year. The suspect, a 54-year-old Chinese man, was brought to the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court Monday afternoon. He's charged under Chapter 302 Paragraph 22 of the Criminal Act. The Royal Brunei Police Force has requested a remand order for the suspect to enable them to carry out further investigation and the Bandar Seri Begawan magistrate's court granted a fourteen-day period. In a media conference about the latest development in the murder case, the police said they had cross-examined information that had been gathered and also analysed relevant situations that may have links with the murder case. The police also said they will continue with their investigation to determine if other suspects were also involved in the case. For the time being, the police have gathered scientific proof from evidence that was sent to the Singapore's Center for Forensic Science for further analysis. Based on the results, the police believe that the suspect can help in their investigation. |
