Brunei
Muara launches Tsunami fundraising effort |
||
In joining
the worldwide ongoing activities to gather donations for the victims of
the Asian Tsunami Disaster, the General Congress of the Youth Council
for the Brunei-Muara District has officially launched a Tsunami Fund Raising
effort. The Deputy Director of Youth and Sports, Awang Haris bin Osman,
who officiated at the event, emphasized that the success of any organisation
depends on its ability to create a balance of cooperation and fair play
among its members, and to cronyism and negative behaviour which can lead
to the breakdown of a communal effort.
He also stressed that an effective leadership depends on the ability to communicate, coordinate, and act. According to him, statistics kept by the Youth and Sports Department have recorded 24 Youth Associations within the Brunei Muara District that are registered with the Brunei Darussalam Registrar of Associations. The Deputy President of the Brunei Muara Youth Council, Pengiran Suhaimi bin Pengiran Wahid, elaborating on this statement said that the Brunei Muara Council has enjoyed a considerably long existence, whereby 24 associations have been formed, although not all of them are affiliated to the Brunei Muara Youth Council. Out of these, 13 were still running and active. Pengiran Suhaimi also emphasized his desire for future Brunei Muara youth leaders to take their roles seriously. |
