His Majesty extends wishes to Italian leaders on Italy’s anniversary

 
  His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddien Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang DiPertuan of Brunei Darussalam has expressed his satisfaction with the warm and friendly relations and deep understanding that had so long been established between Brunei Darussalam and Republic of Italy. His Majesty hopes that this would be maintained and enhanced in the future for the good of the two countries and people.
 
 
 

His Majesty's remarks was contained in congratulatory messages to His Excellency Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, the President of the Republic of Italy and His Excellency Silvio Berlusconi, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Italy on the occasion of the Anniversary of the Republic of Italy. In the message, His Majesty also hopes that His Excellency Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, the President of the Republic of Italy would always remain in good health and happiness and for the people of the Republic of Italy to always enjoy continued progress and prosperity.
 

 
 

At the same time, in a similar congratulatory message to His Excellency Silvio Berlusconi, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Italy, His Majesty congratulates His Excellency and the Government and People of the Republic of Italy on the occasion of the Anniversary of the Republic of Italy. His Majesty expressed his satisfaction with the warm and friendly relations that had been long established between the two countries. His Majesty also expressed his wish that this will be maintained and enhanced in the future for the mutual benefit of the two countries and peoples. His Majesty also wishes His Excellency Silvio Berlusconi, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Italy his continued good health and happiness and for the prosperity of the people of the Republic of Italy.
 

 
 

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs also congratulates His Excellency Gianfranco Fini, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Italy on the occasion of the anniversary of the Republic of Italy. In the message, His Royal Highness congratulates His Excellency, government and people of Italy on the happy occasion. His Royal Highness appreciates the friendly relations enjoyed between the two countries and look forward to continuing to work together to enhance the friendship and cooperation links

 
 

Senior Minister pays working visit to Ministry of Health

 
 

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Ministers' Office, continued the series of his working visits Wednesday with a visit to the Ministry of Health.
 

 
 


Upon arrival at the Ministry of Health in Berakas, His Royal Highness was greeted by the Minister of Health, Yang Berhormat  Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Deputy Minister of Health, Yang Berhormat Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah and other senior officials. Also present during

 

 
 

the visit was the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, Awang Haji Ahmad bin Haji Abdul Rahman.
 

 
    His Royal Highness then proceeded to the conference room for a briefing session which began with a welcoming speech by the Minister of Health. A briefing on the overview of Brunei Darussalam's health care delivery system and policy challenges was presented by the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of  
 

Health, Awang Sarbini bin Haji Ali. Then the Ministry's General Director, Awang Yusof bin Amba presented a briefing on Strategic Planning of the ministry, projects of the Ministry of Health under the National Development Plan, Law, Council and Committee under the ministry. At the end of the briefing session, His Royal Highness expressed concern on the effectiveness in assuring the stock and quality of medicines are available and plans on the previous residential building for officers and staff at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital. His Royal Highness was then briefed on the matters concerned. The itinerary for the morning continued with a multimedia presentation on the organisational structure of the Ministry of Health and its roles and functions towards improving the health and well-being of the people of Brunei Darussalam through the current health care system.
 

 
  His Royal Highness then consented to attend the Special Meeting of the 12th National Health Promotion Committee at the Conference Room of the Ministry. After that His Royal Highness proceeded to the Ministry of Health's surau to perform the Zohor prayer, before attending a luncheon at a Hotel in Berakas. There His Royal Highness also    
 

attended a get together with local graduates, senior officers and other staff of the Ministry of Health. Also at the luncheon, His Royal Highness consented to receive three thousand and 15 dollars from the Ministry of Health, for the Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans, presented by the Minister of Health.
 

 
    His Royal Highness' visit in the afternoon began with a tour of the Environmental Health Building, where His Royal Highness viewed an exhibition on the functions of services of the Disease Control Section. His Royal Highness was then taken on a guided tour of the various sections of the department which includes the Pollution Control Unit, Building Plan and  
 

Development Unit, Entomology and Parasitology Unit and the Vector Control and Malaria Vigilant Unit.
 

 
  His Royal Highness' next stop was at the P3 Laboratory Building of the Scientific Services Department. At the Scientific Service Laboratory Building, His Royal Highness was briefed by the Director of the Scientific Services, Awang Victor Keasberry on the function of its units.  The Units include the Bio-safety Laboratory, the Forensic DNA    
  Laboratory, Document Examination Laboratory and the Narcotic Laboratory.
 
 
    The working visit is in continuity to the concerted support for the efforts of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam towards ensuring that all government agencies are more alert and responsive to current developments in preserving the country's prosperity and harmony, whilst upholding the nation's aspirations.  
 

Plans for His Majesty’s birthday celebration underway

 
 

All committees of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Dipertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 59th Birthday Anniversary Celebration should give more attention to and organise potential programmes that can attract the masses especially the country's youth. The call was made by the Minister of Home Affairs at a meeting with the Executive Committee for His Majesty's 59th Birthday Anniversary Celebrations' in the Tutong District Wednesday.
 

 
 

Yang Berhormat Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Adnan who is also Chairman of National Executive Committee for the celebration, said that the involvement of youth during up-coming festivities could keep them away from negative activities, besides instilling patriotism, a sense of belonging and the spirit of team work among themselves.
 

 
 

During the meeting, the Minister of Home Affairs announced that the Flag Raising ceremony in conjunction with His Majesty's Birthday celebrations this year will be held on the 1st of July. The date was chosen to give the rakyat and residents the opportunity to make preparations and to make the festivities more glorious and colourful.
 

 
 

A total of seventeen events have been lined up by the Tutong District Executive Committee for this year's celebration, the highlight of which will be the Get-Together Ceremony between His Majesty and the rakyat and residents in the district.

 
 

Fire Station opens in Beribi Light Industrial Estate

 
 

The Beribi Dua Light Industrial Estate area now has its own Fire Station. The nearly 2 and a quarter million dollar facility was completed in February and was handed over to the Fire Services Department Wednesday. The Acting Director of Building Services Department at the Public Works Department, Pengiran Haji Menudin presented a mock key to the Acting Director of the Fire Services, Haji Awang Johari bin Jaludin.
 

 
 

The new fire station is equipped with an operation room and fire engine bays. Apart from catering to the Beribi Industrial Estate area itself, the station will also provide support to the fire services of Mukim Gadong and Mukim Sengkurong areas when and if deemed necessary.

 
 

DPMM FC thrash NBT FC, 5-0

 
 

The DPMM FC team Wednesday night beat the NBT FC by five goals to nil. The match took place at the Berakas Sports Complex padang. Present to watch the game were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince, and His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malek.
 

 
 

The DPMM FC import player, Peter Gray Garerson scored their first goal in the 11th minute and the second goal through Rene Komar in the 45th minute.
 

 
 

In the second half of the match, the NBT FC made several attempts but failed to score. The DPMM FC scored the other three goals through Rene Komar, Goran Vusanovic and Peter Gray Garerson.

 
 

Brunei Open 2005 set to mark sultanate as new golfing destination

 
 

Brunei Darussalam is to stage its first ever Professional Golf Tournament, ''Brunei Open 2005'', which will be held at Empire Hotel and Country Club from the 23rd to the 26th of this month. The tournament is part of a number of new initiatives by Brunei Tourism to help propel the ''Kingdom of Unexpected Treasures'' into the international tourism arena.
 

 
 

The staging of the ''Brunei Open 2005'' is expected to position Brunei Darussalam as a high-profile golfing destination in the region with its excellent and challenging championship courses that can be enjoyed by visitors to the Sultanate. The 300 thousand US dollar tournament, the last round in the Tour before the summer break, will bring to Brunei Darussalam a field of some 140 of Asia's finest professional golfers who will compete for the prize money as well as the honor of being the first to engrave their name on the Brunei Open trophy, allowing local golfing enthusiasts to experience for free the thrill of an international standard professional tournament.
 

 
 

Brunei Tourism is confident that this tournament will be a success with the players and spectators and will result in an increasing number of tourists coming to Brunei to enjoy playing golf in addition to the Sultanate's other natural and cultural attractions.
 

 
 

In this regard, a signing ceremony for the "Brunei Open 2005" was held Wednesday. The signatories were the Director of Brunei Tourism, Sheikh Jamaluddin Sheikh Mohammed and the Chief Executive of Asian Tour, Mr. Louis Martin. Asian Tour is known as the organizer of officially sanctioned golf tournaments around Asia. Present to witness the signing ceremony was the Deputy Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamdillah.
