Voluntary community works help to revive old traditions

 
 

“Memucang-mucang” or local term for voluntary work activity is a tradition that has long been practiced, and is still maintained until today.  Various activities are undertaken by kampung residents in order to keep this spirit alive.  In such activity Sunday, the Kampung Lambak ‘A’ Consultative Council gather effort to build a shed for a nearby cemetery.

   
  The initiative was led by the Kampung Lambak ‘A’ Consultative Council with the help of the Brunei Muara District Office.  The project was financed with contributions of 3 thousand dollars from members of the community, as well as an additional $1,800 from the Brunei Muara District Office.  Also joining in the “memucang-mucang” activity was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Dato Seri Setia Haji Yusoff bin Haji Ismail.  More than 200 kampung residents helped in the construction of the hut for the Bayut Cemetery.  

 

 

Gadong Health Centre hosts open day for nearby residents

 
 

The Gadong Health Centre in Rimba, Sunday held an open day aimed at exposing the services provided by the centre.  In this regard, several activities were arranged during the open day which began with an aerobic session.

 
 

The Gadong Health Centre has sections for outpatients, pharmacy, medical, record and administration services.  The centre is also provided several medical equipment and facilities and other necessary services for 50 thousand people residing in the area and its vicinity.  On a daily basis, around 200 people seek treatment and other services here. Among the services provided are the emergency treatment, phlebotomy, dispensary, inoculation and other services.

   
 

The two-hour programme gave the residents the opportunity to undergo medical check-ups at the Triage Service Section, which provides the essential examination on a person’s general health status such as blood pressure, body temperature and weight.   Following the procedure, the medical staff will determine whether a patient requires immediate attention and treatment in case of emergency, or otherwise fix an appointment for him or her to see the doctor.

 

 

 

NSF continues with cycling events

 
 

The 7th National Sports Festival continues and Chung Kwei Ming from the Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council won the first gold medal in the mountain bike cross country event.  Meanwhile, Raihan Haji Abdul Aziz emerged the winner in the mountain bike down hill event.

Thirty bikers took part in the cross country event.  Masri Matasan from the Tutong District was in second place, while Sonadey Abdul Jalil from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council came third.  The race, held in Tungku, covered a 35 kilometre route with 8 round laps.
 

 
 


In the afternoon, Norazizul Awang from the Brunei Muara District won second place in the down hill event, while Masri Matasan came in third. Thirteen cyclists took part in the event.
