His Majesty presents land titles to T.O.L. holders

 
 

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddien Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to present land titles under the land lot grant scheme for Temporary Occupation Licence (T.O.L.) holders in Brunei Muara district. The ceremony was held at the Kampung Junjungan Primary School Monday.

 
   

Upon arrival at the School, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was welcomed by His Majesty's Special Adviser at the Prime Minister's Office and the Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Dato Awang Haji Isa; the Minister of Development, Pehin Dato Doctor Awang Haji Ahmad; the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Dato

 
 

Awang Haji Adnan and the Brunei Muara District Officer, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Adnan bin Haji Hanafiah. The recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Brunei Muara Distrcit Syar'iah subordinate court judge, Pengiran Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan marked the start of the ceremony.

 
 

The Brunei Muara District Officer, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Adnan in his welcoming address said that the grant of land lots under the Temporary Occupation License scheme reflects the concern of the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in ensuring that all rakyat and residents are provided with adequate housing. His Majesty then consented to present land titles to forty-three recipients under the land lot grant scheme for Temporary Occupation Licence.

   
   

The scheme was introduced to ease the burden of the government in providing housing for rakyat and residents. Other such schemes include the Land Scheme for Landless Indigenous Citizens and the National Housing Development Scheme. Five recipients were from Mukim Berakas, four from Mukim Kilanas, four

 
 

from Mukim Sengkurong, twenty recipients of Mukim Pengkalan Batu, one from Mukim Lumapas, five recipients from Mukim Mentiri, and four from Mukim Serasa. The award of land lots, especially under the T-O-L scheme, requires the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The regulations stipulate that land awarded under such a scheme must only be used for residential purpose. Any additional construction must first get the approval of relevant authorities.

 
 

His Majesty pays visit to Mukim Pengkalan Batu and Sengkurong

 
 

After consenting to present the land grants, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam visited the Kampung Junjongan Primary School and several villages in Mukim Pengkalan Batu. His Majesty also consented to visit several important government institutions and businesses in Mukim Pengkalan Batu and Sengkurong.

 
 

His Majesty first toured the Kampung Junjongan Primary School, where, upon arrival, His Majesty consented to plant a native fruit tree to commemorate the visit. His Majesty also consented to open the school’s educational mini park.
 

   
   

From the Kampung Junjungan Primary School, His Majesty proceeded to the residence of the Ketua Kampung of Kampung Junjungan, Awang Haji Tahir bin Jaya. He has been Ketua Kampung since 1989. Kampung Junjungan is placed under Mukim Pengkalan Batu and has a population of more than two thousand people, with nearly two hundred houses. His Majesty then consented to visit the houses of several recipients of the land lot grant scheme under the temporary occupation license in Kampung Junjungan.

 
 

His Majesty then moved on to visit the homes of recipients of the land lot grant scheme in Kampug Kuala Lurah. His Majesty also consented to drop by at the residence of the Ketua Kampug of Kampug Limau Manis, Awang Haji Mohaimin bin Johari. Kampug Limau Manis has a population of more than one thousand 800 residents, living in nearly 200 houses. With the granting of land titles to the rakyat and residents, the Monarch wishes to see that each will own land of his or her own upon which the owner will be able to build a house.

   
   

The Kuala Lurah Control Post also came under His Majesty's scrutiny. At the post, His Majesty watched closely the roles and functions of the Immigration and National Registration Department and other agencies in operations at the control post. The Kuala Lurah Control Post is the main entrance between Brunei Darussalam and Limbang, Sarawak. The Royal Brunei Police, the Customs Department and the Agriculture Department also operate at the Kuala Lurah Control Post.

 
 

His Majesty also visited the Badan Tanmiah Petrol Station and Trading in Kampung Kuala Lurah. The Limau Manis Post Office was the next destination for His Majesty. It provides such services as issuing drivers licences and road tax renewals. The Post Office was officially opened in October 1991. It also receives payments for electricity and water bills.
 

   
   

His Majesty then proceeded to the Kampung Limau Manis Police Station. For two consecutive years, 2003 and 2004, the station won the top award for cleanliness and maintenance of its surrounding. The Health Clinic of Kampung Limau Manis located not far from the Limau Manis Police Station, was also toured by His Majesty. The clinic has had its own building since 1979 and opens three times a week. The services offered at the clinic include child health assessments and pre-natal treatment.

 
 

The Golden Chick Sendirian Berhad Abbatoir Centre was also a focus for His Majesty's visit. The company is the first abattoir in Brunei to implement Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point. The company annually supplies two thousand metric tonnes of chilled and frozen whole chickens and chicken parts to the local markets, providing thirty percent of the local demand for poultry meats in the country.
 

   
 

His Majesty then proceeded to the residence of Penghulu Mukim Pengkalan Batu, Awang Haji Tahir bin Haji Tarip. Eight villages are under Mukim Pengkalan Batu with a population of more than seven thousand people. The Mukim also has a Neighbourhood Crime Watch Committee with over six hundred members. His Majesty later visited a number of houses owned by recipients of land titles. Under His Majesty's leadership, residents in rural areas such as in Kampung Wasan, Kampung Batong, Kampung Parit, and Kampung Selayun, have benefited from facilities which have enabled them to carry out extensive agricultural projects through the Communal Farming Scheme.

 
   

His Majesty also took a look at the Pasar Tani Serbaguna Selayun in Mukim Sengkurong. Here, His Majesty consented to meet some of the vendors. The established Agricultural market, Pasar Tani Koperasi Satenaga, was built by the Kampung Tanjung Nangka cooperative. The new market place can accommodate one hundred and thirty six vendors, and provide proper retailing and wholesale facilities for marketing of farm produces.

 
 

His Majesty continued his visit by taking a look at the Kilanas Agricultural Research Centre. The Agriculture Department welcomes the involvement of the private sector in making use of hydrophonic technology for commercial purposes. Kanglin Hydroponics Farming is one of the pioneer companies, that have grown hydrophonically grown vegetables since 1997. His Majesty ended his visit with a luncheon. Today's visit clearly demonstrates the Monarch's care and concern for the well-being his rakyat and residents of the country.

   
 

The Crown Prince awards Tsunami volunteers with appreciation certificates

 
 

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muthadee Billah, the Crown Prince has expressed happiness at efforts to raise funds and other assistance in helping Tsunami victims. All these, His Royal Highness pointed out, demonstrate the noble characteristics of the Brunei people which should be upheld. His Royal Highness made the remark Monday at a doa selamat and appreciation ceremony for volunteers and donors of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation Initiative Humanitarian Relief Fund for Tsunami Victims in Aceh.

 
   

His Royal Highness was greeted upon arrival at the International Convention Centre in Berakas by the Minister of Education, Pehin Dato Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, who is also the chairman of the Yayasan Administrative Board and the Chairman of the foundation's Board of Directors, Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin. Accompanying the Crown Prince at the function was His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malik.

 
 

The function commenced with the recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah led by Pehin Dato Ustaz Awang Haji Abdul Hamid bin Bakal. In his welcoming address, the foundation's chairman of the board of directors, stressed that the many initiatives taken to help the victims showed overwhelming sympathy of the rakyat and residents of Brunei Darussalam toward the Aceh survivors.

   
   

His Royal Highness said that he welcomed the initiative by the foundation to deliver assistance to Aceh, which signified Brunei Darussalam's care and deep sympathy. His Royal Highness said that apart from achieving its objective, the initiative of the foundation has also given valuable experience in forming ideas, planning, coordination and most importantly its implementation. This involved the logistic support of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Royal Brunei Airlines. To all those concerned, His Royal Highness expressed his appreciation and gratitude.

 
 

His Royal Highness then consented to present the appreciation certificates to 356 volunteers of whom 78 were directly involved with the humanitarian mission in Aceh. These consisted of the Armed Forces personnel as well as the medical officers from the Ministry of Health. Several members of the media also received their appreciation certificates for their roles in bringing us the pictures and stories of our humanitarian mission there.

   
   

To bless the event, doa selamat was read by Pehin Dato Ustaz Awang Haji Abdul Hamid. Prior taking leave of the ceremony His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince consented to receive the junjung ziarah from the volunteers.

 
 

Fingerprint experts sent to Phuket to aid in identification of Tsunami victims

 
 

By consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Dipertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Royal Brunei Police Force has sent two of its fingerprint experts to assist in identifying tsunami victims in Phuket, Thailand, using the “Automatic Fingerprint Identification System”.

 
 

Two of the Brunei Darussalam police personnel are currently in Phuket, Thailand to give assistance in identifying the fingerprints of tsunami victims there. Assistant Superintendent Police Haji Muhamad Limon bin Ahmad Kumpoh and Copral Mohammad Hanafi bin Haji Mohidin are posted at the Centre of Operation for Disaster Victim Identification, in Phuket, Thailand.

 
 

Water supply expected to experience interruptions

 
 

The director of water services says water supply to several areas will be affected, or receive low water pressure, starting from nine o’clock this evening. This is due to the installation of the Sluice Valve 450 millimeter outlet at the water tank in Kilanas.

 
 

Areas affected will be Ban areas Kilanas, Kampung Kilanas, Bunut, Tanjut Bunut, Sinarubai, Madewa, Bengkurong, Tasek Meradun, Bebatik, Dedap Kialanas dan areas nearby. Meanwhile, consumers who are involved in the affected areas can ask for tank water supply by contacting Hotline 140.
