 Belait district is gearing up for the Royal Birthday anniversary

The celebration mood is hovering the Belait District for the coming His Majesty's 62nd birthday anniversary.  Preparation are gearing up including beautifying the town. Colourful neon lights at business premises and the surrounding areas has been set up to glorify further the atmosphere at night. Banners are also being installed along the main roads by private firms in the district.  Apart from that, arches are also erected at government departments and business premises.

The construction of the Royal Dias at the  Municipal Padang for the get-together with the rakyat is almost finished. The Executive Committee of the Celebration and events chairmen  also busy with their own preparation to ensure that the programs will run smoothly during the celebration.

Stamps and official first day covers exhibition are now on at the GPO in the capital

Philatelists and stamps enthusiasts in the country are currently able to view a collection of stamps and official first day covers in an exhibition taking place at the Stamp Gallery of the General Post Office in the capital. The display is part of the event lined-up in  conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Dipertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 62nd birthday anniversary.  Included in the exhibition is a collection of stamps and official first day covers that won acclaim at a competition held on the 29th of May until the 21st of this month which was  organised by the Postal Services.  The official opening ceremony also coincided with the  presentation of prizes to the winners of that competition. Awang Hidop bin Haji Mohammd Zain won the Category A amongst SODA members, Nur Bazilah binti Ridwan clinched top place in Category B for SODAKIDS and Dayang Nur Mazyyatul Akmal bini Haji Omar took the prize for Category C for teenagers.  The Seria Post Office was he winner as the top selling office for philatelic products while the Lumut Post Office for highest record of sale of stamps and official first day covers.  The Lumut Post Office also won in the Creative exhibition category. The exhibition at the General Post Office will run until the 10th of July from eight in the morning until half past four in the afternoon from Monday to Thursday as well as on Sunday.
