Call on newly
appointed village leaders to make full use of Village Consultative Council
|
Newly appointed ketua kampung or village leaders are urged to make
full use of the Village Consultative Council for
improving the living standards of residents. In
achieving unity, residents must play their part and
support their village leader in planning activities for
their mutual benefit. The Permanent Secretary at the
Ministry of Home Affairs, Pengiran Abdul Haris bin
Pengiran Haji Shabudin made the call at a ceremony to
present the Certificate of Appointment to the Ketua of
Kampung Penanjong, Mukim Pekan Tutong, Friday.
Pengiran Abdul Haris in his address also urged Kampung Consultative
Councils to give particular attention to programmes and efforts directed
towards generating socio-economic development of the local community. This,
he added, could help create sources of income and job opportunities for
villagers and is regarded as an important factor that can contribute to
social security and unity.
Fifty-seven-year old Awang Haji Jumat bin Haji Kadir, a former
headmaster, started his service as ketua kampung on the 29th of May this
year. Kampung Penanjong under Mukim Pekan Tutong has an area of 7.5 square
kilometres and a population of more than 2 thousand people.
Meanwhile, in a similar function in Kampung
Sungai Akar, Mukim Berakas ‘B’, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of
Home Affairs, Pengiran Abdul Haris said development is inline with the
vision of His Majesty and government as well as Allah the Al-Mighty.
