First Meeting of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural

Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, has left for Bangkok as Brunei Darussalam's Ministerial Representative to the First Meeting of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community ASCC Council taking place on Monday.

Present at the Brunei International Airport to bid farewell was the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Awang Lim Jock Seng. The meeting will discuss the ASCC Blueprint approved by ASEAN Leaders at the 14th ASEAN Summit on the 1st of March 2009 in Hua Hin, Thailand and the activities of the various sectoral bodies under the Council. Her Royal Highness is accompanied by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz.

RIPAS 25 Anniversary

The Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha turns 25 on the 20th of this month. Since its establishment in 1984 it has rapidly developed in terms of personnel and service achievements. RIPAS hospital is capable of providing technologically advanced medical care with it's increasing number of local doctors and specialist services. The hospital's Management and Administration through the Ministry of Health will continue to improve its comprehensive medical care to people in the country.

Implemented strategies and plans, fall in line with its mission to promote and improve service standards through effective, safe and quality health care. The Minister of Health unveiled programmes in confronting the increasing number of cancer and kidney patients in the country.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi said the Ministry of Health will periodically research the increasing number of cancer cases in the country and how to provide Oncology Services to cancer patients. The minister also touched on the rise in kidney patients over the last 25 years and how food and lifestyle choices can impact. The Ministry now has more sophisticated machines including the City Scan to treat kidney patients. An MRI machine and other equipment are in the works.

 

Sunat Terawih prayer and Tedarus

The month of Ramadhan is glorified with sunnat terawih prayer and the sunnat witir prayers as well as tedarus ceremonies at main mosques, suraus and religious halls throughout the country inorder to get blessings from Allah the Amighty. Last night the sunat prayers was held the men's hall of Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kampong Kiarong.

Among those present were associations, and residents of the village. After performingTarawih and Witir prayers, the congregation held Berterdarus ceremonies or quran reading. The tedarus covers 30 chapters of the Al Quran and provides life lessons for Muslims. Quran reading during Ramadhan promises a multitude of rewards.

 

Outpatient Service during Ramadhan

The Ministry of Health has announced that the Outpatient Service at the Health Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan will extend its services after office hours during the month of Ramadhan. The additional time is to enable patients to get treatment during the month of Ramadhan. Last night, RTB's crew at a close look at the outpatient clinic in Jalan 0ng Sum Ping .

The clinic was crowded due to the three-day public holidays and the clinic has to extend its service until 11 PM. The outpatient clinic will function as normal from Monday to Thursday, and Saturday from 8 am to 2 PM and from 7 PM to 10 PM. While on Friday, Sunday and public holiday, the clinic will open from 2 PM to 5 PM and from 7 PM to 10 PM.

 

Saudi Arabia has contributed 239 copies of the Al-Quran

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has contributed 239 copies of the Al-Quran to the Prime Minister's Office. The contribution was presented by the Embassy's Charge d'Affair, His Excellency Amer A. Al-Shery to the Senior Administrative Officer at the Prime Minister's Office, Pengiran Harun bin Pengiran Haji Aliuddin. The presentation took place at the embassy in Kampong Salar, Jalan Muara.

 

National Disaster Management Centre

A Public Works Department Operation Control Centre has been set up in Jalan Tasek Lama at the Water Services Department Building. JKR is the supporting agent to the National Disaster Management Centre. The centre will handle public complaints about landslides, roads drainage, flood, sewerage or water supply.

The Centre includes the Customer Care Centre's 1-4-0 hot line which operates on a 24 hour basis to receive complaints from the public or from the National Disaster Management Centre. It plays the role of catalyst and coordinator to ensure that complaints are dealt with swiftly and efficiently. The Operation Control Centre aims to improve the Public Work Department's services inline with other developed countries.
