JPM held Tahlil & Reading Surah Yaasin
The Prime Minister's Office and departments under it Tuesday held a Bertahlil and Reading of the Surah Yaasin for His Majesty's late parents, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit.  Present at the ceremony was the Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, Dato Seri Paduka Eusoff Agaki.  Also there were permanent secretaries, officers and other staff members at the Prime Minister's Office and departments under it.  The reading of the Surah Al-Fatihan was led by the Syari'e Chief Judge, Yang Berhormat Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awang Yahya; while the reading of the Surah Yaasin was led by the Deputy Mufti, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Suhaili bin Haji Mohiddin. The Doa tahlil was read by the State Mufti, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu  Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Abdul Aziz.  Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saiffudien Sa'adul Khairi Waddein, the 28th Sultan, who is also known as the Architect of Modern Brunei, departed on 7th September 1986, while Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit departed on the 13th of September 1979.

Education UK 2009 Exhibition

The Education UK 2009 Exhibition opened Tuesday with an offering of over 2 hundred 30 thousand courses.  Visitors can learn about new courses, and speak directly to representatives of higher learning institutions on academic options, courses and fee structures, accommodations, student’s activities and more.  The British Council's Director of Education and Programmes, Mr Peter Clack, told RTB that trained Council advisers will be on hand to assist students on all aspects of education in the UK, including application procedures and pre-departure information.   The institutions at the expo came from a varied cross-section of educational opportunities with a diverse range of course options and study methods, allowing students to find the most suitable combinations that best suit their career goals and objectives.  Also, students who are preparing to leave for the UK, are reminded to attend a Pre-Departure Briefing at the Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong from 2.30 to 4.30 in this afternoon.

 

MOE released ‘O’, ‘AS’ and ‘A’ Level Results
The Examination Department of the Ministry of Education has released the Cambridge G.C.E. 'O', 'AS' and 'A' Level results for May and June 2009.  Students can collect their result slips at their respective schools while individual candidates may pick them up from the department during office hours.

 

Sport School Student expect to move in January next year

Students at the Sports School are expected to move into their new school in January next year.  The school building in Kampung Pulaie is in the final phase of its construction and is expected to be completed this December.  The new Sports School Building project cost about 26 million dollars and is carried out under the 2007-2012 National Development Plan.  It is a project of the Ministry of Education in providing an infrastructure that is conducive, comfortable and sufficient for the students.  It consists of a block of three-storey study building, an administration block, a three-storey hostel block and a dining hall.   Construction of the building began in February 2008 on a 9.88 hectare site.  The Sports School carries a mission of becoming a centre for sports and academic development and excellence, through quality training and learning programmes.
