Prime Minister Office and its depts continue held
bertedarus ceremonies
The Prime Minister Office and its departments continues
to held bertedarus ceremonies at several mosques in the
Brunei Muara district. Late Saturday afternoon, the
Prime Minister Office held the bertedarus ceremony at
the Kampong Tanah Jambu Mosque, in the Brunei Muara
district. The bertedarus ceremony was led by the Deputy
State Mufti, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka
Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Suhaili bin
Haji Mohiddin. Present were the Deputy Minister at the
Prime Minister Office, Dato Seri Paduka Eusoff Agaki and
the State Mufti, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja
Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doktor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul
Aziz bin Juned. The function continue with the the
presentation of endowment for the use of the mosque and
kampong residents. The Ministry of Culture, Youth and
Sports and its departments also held a bertedarus
ceremony. It took place at the Bengkurong Mosque.
Present was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of
Culture, Youth and Sports, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Jemat
bin Ampal. More than 300 officers and staff of the
ministry as well as residents in the area attended the
function. At the function, orphans in the Kampong
Bengkurong 'A' received donations from the permanent
secretary. Meanwhile, officers and staff of the Ministry
of Communications and its departments also the similar
function. The ceremony began with mass Zohor prayer and
followed with the reading of Al-quran. The tedarus
ceremony began with the reading of Al-Fatihah led by the
Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications,
Awang Haji Mahmud bin Haji Mohd Daud. The Ministry of
Education and its departments also held bertedarus
ceremony. It was held at the Bukit Panggal Mosque in the
Tutong District. Present was the Director of
Administration and Services of the Ministry of
Education, Awang Haji Taib bin Datu Hulubalang Haji
Abdul Wahab. The programme included the recital of
Al-Quran, and reading of Tahlil. The function was
coincided with the presentation of endowment for the use
of the mosque.
Distribute donation to orphans in conjunction with
Ramadhan and Hari Raya
In a move to eleviate the burden during the month of
Ramadan and the coming Hari Raya, orphans in the Tutong
and Belait District were presented with donations. In
the Tutong district a total of 472 orphans received such
donations while 300 orphans from the Belait district
received theirs'. The donation was handed over by the
Minister of Culture Youth and Sports, Yang Berhormat
Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Doktor
Awang Haji Ahmad and the Minister of Development Yang
Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri
Setia Awang Haji Abdullah, as chairman of the Board of
Director of the ah Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam. A
total of 115 thousand and 800 dollars were handed over
to orphans in both districts. A total of $77, 200 came
from the National Orphan Fund and $38, 600 from the BIBD.
The donation was handed to the kampong ketuas, who will
later distribute them to orphans in their areas in the
two districts.
Taib and the civil aviation Department signed a tenacy
aggrement
The new TAIB ATM machine at the Airport Departure Hall
is to provide its customers more convenience to withdraw
cash. Saturday, a signing ceremony of tenancy agreement
for TAIB's ATM was held between the Perbadanan Tabung
Amanah Islam Brunei, TAIB and The Civil Aviation
Depatrtment. Signing on behalf of TAIB was its Acting
Managing Director, Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman bin
Pengiran Haji Mat Salleh. Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation
Department was represented by its Director, Awang Haji
Omar Ali bin Haji Mohd Ja'afar. Also present to witness
the signing ceremony were TAIB Chief Financial Officer,
Awang Haji Jaludin bin Mohd Ali and the Deputy Director
of Civil Aviation Department, Awang Haji Matnor bin Haji
Salleh.
Seminar on International Student's
Advisors and Counselors from government and private
secondary school and colleges this morning attended a
seminar on 'The International Student Journey through
UCAS: Resources and Recommendations for Advisors'. The
objective was to help Bruneian students as their make
their journey into Higher Education in the United
Kingdom. The seminar was presented by the International
Executive of Universities and Colleges Admission
Service, UCAS, Mrs Kristine Murray. In her briefing, she
among other touched on the UCAS International team and
UCAS' Enhanced Services for students. More than 500,000
courses were offered by about 309 Universities and
colleges and 172 further educational and specialist
Colleges under UCAS. In an interview with RTB, she said
a big number of students were keen to study and take up
various undergraduate courses in the UK.
