Tahlil Ceremony continues in Ramadhan

A Tahlil Ceremony for His Majesty's late parents, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saiffudien Saadul Khairi Waddien and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit continues to be held by various parties in the month of Ramadhan.   The Bank Islam Brunei Berhad, BIBD held such a function Friday. Among those present during the religious activities was the Minister of Development, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah who is also Chairman of BIBD.

Another bertahlil ceremony at the Royal Mausoleum, in Jalan Tutong was held by the Takmir Committee of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Mosque in Kampung Rimba and the Village Consultative Council of Indigenous Landless Scheme Rimba. The more than forty member delegation was led by the patron of the mosque, Pengiran Adnan bin Pengiran Seri Indera Pengiran Haji Ismail.

Friday Sermon pointed out visiting cemetery

Visiting the cemetery is a normal practice of Muslims in the country and more of such a practice takes place during the month of Ramadan and in the morning of Aidilfitri. In fact, visiting the cemetery does not have to wait for the month of Ramadan or Syawal, but is encouraged at any time especially on Friday. The matter was highlighted in Friday's Friday Sermon. The sermon pointed out that paying respect to the departed is very much encouraged in Islam. The deceased always await visits from loved ones and that the visits will please them. Visiting the cemetery can bring rewards and blessings both to the departed as well as the living. The imam also reminded the ummah to always adhere to the proper guidelines when visiting the cemetery. These include the commendable cleansing of oneself by performing the ablution as well as wearing the appropriate attire.

 

Steel Bridge closed for construction works

The steel bridge of Jalan Parit, Kampung Pengkalan Batu, Jalan Mulaut Limau Manis is closed to traffic as of Friday to give ways to construction works. The Public Works Department through Roads Department said the works on the bridge will take about seven months to complete. Throughout the closure, Road users can use alternative routes such as Jalan Agau or Jalan Panchur Murai-Kulapis.
