 Royalty watch RBAF 48th anniversary celebration events

Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah has consented to witness the performance and activities for participants, the families of military personnel and the public in conjunction with the RBAF’s 48th anniversary celebrations at the Royal Brunei Air Force Base in Rimba.  With Her Royal Highness was Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Muntaqim.  

Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri is a member of UBD’s Army Cadet Team.  Among the highlights was a police motorcycle demo and motorcycle exercise demonstration.  Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri and the Prince also visited an exhibition at Hangar A

‘Brunei Drift’ Video Clip wins ‘Aksi Video’ final

A video clip entitled ‘Brunei Drift’ won the top place in the final of the Aksi Video Programme held Sunday at the Dewan Raya of Radio Television Brunei.  Present at the final was the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office, Awang Haji Saiful Bahri bin Haji Awang Mashor.   

Eleven finalists competed for the top honours of Aksi Video.  The programme produced by Radio Television Brunei through its TV Programme Section’s Community Unit is a reality programme that gives youth the opportunity to display their creativity through video clips.  A total of 65 visual clips were received since the programme began on the 20th of February.  

The champion, Awang Muhamamd Syazli bin Haji Duming, with the video clip entitled ‘Brunei Drift’ received $3,000 and a 32-inch Sony LCD TV set.  The first runner-up, Awangku Mohd. Fadhul’lah Iskandar bin Pg. Mohd. Su’ud with the video, ‘Macam Si Banar’, took home $2,000 together with a Sony Handycam, and the third place winner, Dayang Widuri binti Maidin, with her video clip, ‘Me Versus Myself’, received $1,000 and a set of Sony Home Theatre System.  Results were based entirely on SMS votes from the public.

Taman Mini Perayaan in Kampung Parit opens for weekend bazaar

The Taman Mini Perayaan in Kampung Parit is now open for weekend bazaars every Sunday to enable residents of kampungs in Mukim Pengkalan Batu to bring in their farm produce as well as other local products.  Starting Sunday, the Executive Committee of the Mukim Pengkalan Batu Consultative Council open-up the weekend bazaar for the purpose of conducting business and a visit spot for the public.  

According to the Council’s Secretary, over 60 residents of the mukim have registered to conduct business there on the weekend.  The Taman Mini Perayaan in Kampung Parit centralises business activities of the small and medium enterprise in the field of ornament plants and fruit trees.  Those who are expert in handicrafts were also there displaying their works of art.  The Taman Mini Perayaan will even be more alive during the July and September fruit season.  According to the secretary of the council, they open up 50 spaces for vegetables, fruits, other farm produce vendors and also for those selling from food and drinks.  There are also six spaces for those who wish to sell used items.
